Grades I have my own doubts whether they have learnt their lessons and that they will not get their itch in future. If I were watching a serial pati patni aur woh I may be mentally tuned to see ONS but not in CB with the story line they were giving till now😆 But for the present they have stopped the Vish track but she was still saying I love to Dev as she was being kicked out.😡
Gardes,
What you wrote is right, but I am not sure they care about us at all. A storyline change or a new storyline .. nothing seems like was because of us, but I am very sure they read us on the forum. Hopefully sometime it does effect them.
Gardes ... have been meaning to reply to this post for some time ... but got carried away by today's episode 😉😍
Back to the lessons learned ... love your thoughts ... While I personally am fine with tracks they introduce, I can understand why the ONS track does not work in a show like CB where the primary audience is probably watching bos of the devotional aspect and kanha guiding the actions of the protagonists. Btw, I do not watch for that.
I watched CB from day 1 and loved the character of Rads and wanted to root for her ... stopped watching after the first wedding for a few months bcos I was unsure where they were going with the story. I did not want to see her endlessly tortured. I have sporadically watched soaps for the past 15 years and thought they would show either Vish or Rads or both getting pregnant and really did not want to deal with all that
When I saw that it was different and that the character of Dev was strong and could counter balance any obligations that Rads felt and that together they were perfect, I got hooked on to the show. For the first time, I was truly addicted. So, for me, no matter what they showed Rads doing, as long as Dev stayed true it was fine. I felt that Rads had someone in her corner who would not let her down, no matter what happened. The ONS track showed a degradation in Dev's character that I was very uncomfortable with and it was the first time I wrote to the producers of any show
As far as lessons they may learn, I believe that they look at this as a business. So everything is based on TRPs and advertising revenue. IMO, when they make choices on what to show or not to show they
- believe this will bring them great ratings.
- are truly clueless abt it and are adopting a cookie cutter approach ... something worked in some other show ... so they believe it will work in this one
- are trying to attract a new audience ... but do not have enough research to know whether they risk losing their core audience
- since this is a 7.30 pm slot and in that time slot generates great TRPs, they don't care ... and will invest their efforts and time in other prime time shows that need their help
- Really believe strongly in Vish and Amma and feel that they are the reason people come back to watch the show
I do believe that they cut short the ONS track bcos of our feedback and emails to them ... not on the forum but directly to them
Frankly, I don't have any data with me to show what kind of tracks work and what forms the base of their core audience. I do believe though, that if they used a lot more judgement, sensitivity and intelligence, they could come up with shows that could combine some of the elements of drama that brings viewers in while maintaining the unique character of the show. They could show the protagonists strong while showing all of the nasty things happening to them. They can use CB to showcase so many problems facing society child abuse, for starters. The question is whether they want to invest the time and money that it requires to do that. Another question is while it may bother us does the rest of their core audience care?
Apologize for the long reply
