What would the hindi film industry be without the contribution of Bengal 👍🏼 . I am not a bengali but just admire the talented people of Bengal, love the sweetness of the language, love their music and last but not the least love their food 😃

Samia,
Another romantic song from Blackmail:
Mile, mile do badan
Khilein, khilein do chaman
Yeh zindagi kam hi sahi, koi gam nahin

Der se aai, aai to bahaar
Angaaron pe sokar, jaagaa pyaar
Toofaanon men phool khilaae, kaisaa ye milan

Mile mile do badan....
This may not be all of the lyrics, but that is all I can find. You have got to see the video clip on you tube.

Gardes..................Pankaj Mallick. Never thought that I will hear his name from a non-bengali ............PMs name reminds me of being woken up early in the morning for school (truthfully dragged from the bed by my mother) with pankaj mallicks songs in the background coming out either from my fathers radio or his record collection. One of my fav songs by him is in bengali............it translates as
Why are u scared even after winning-(Joy kore tor bhoy keno tor jayena)
O scared loved (o bhiru prem)
In the presence of hope u don't have faith (aashar aloye kobuo bhorosha payena)
with smile on your lips, your eyes never dry (mukhe hashi tobu chokher jol na shokaye re)
Why are u scared even after winning-(Joy kore tor bhoy keno tor jayena)
O scared loved (o bhiru prem)

Sorry I just remeber the words of the first paragraph............the bengali wordings are given in red

And ladies don't worry I am here representing bengal 😉

Hey Eva, tried spyware 10 times over, and all the others u suggested so kindly .. but nada .. so this time have to have faith in kanha as my mother does for ions ...
I'm beside myself !! Gardes, our "old" gang here will tell u the striking similarities in our taste for the old songs, yes including k l saigal, pankaj mullik, noorjahan, talat M, hemant K, shamshaad begum, kishore K (of course) ... to name just a few .... As we also know from sa re ga ma show that Bengal produced amazing talent, incl Geeta Roy (later Dutt of course) ..

Also it so happens that 99.9% songs posted in this new thread and the last two have so so many songs repeated coz of their unique melody, meaning of lyrics, the way they really touch the core of your soul ... no wonder they are called "abhi to main jawan hoon" ...

And Gardes since u r relatively new, just addressing u that me belongs to 2-3 generations of music lovers, singers, both semi-classical, ghazals ... on and on .. And I'm just awe-struck when u mentioned about Anand Math song coz it happens to be one of my most fav unique songs with Geeta D where all she says repeatedly throughout the length of the song are same 3 words ~ JAY JAGDISH HARE ... And of course same movie has one of my top 10 songs by Hemant K and Lata - Vande maataram ...

And speaking of semi-classicals, no one can beat Manna Da ~ speaking of him, there's a rare song by him from 1957 Janam Janam ke Phere that I get goose bumps listening to ... and please pay attention to the meaning of the lyrics ..
DO ENJOY THE LINK ALSO ... and the way tambura is played ... (well, couldn't find this song on ANY site, checked 5-6 different, so typed by listening to the video !!! (BTW, Anup Jalota version of mukhda is different but almost equally good ..)
While this bhajan may not have direct correlation to CB, it's certainly a "MUSICAL MELODY" ...
Man ka andhiyara mita
phaila amar prakaash
nainon ne darshan kiye
bujhi hridaya ki pyaas
tan ke tambure mein do saanso ke taar bole
jai radhe shyam shyam jai sita raam raam
ab to iss tan ke mandir mein prabhu ka huya basera (2)
magan huya man mera
chhoota janam janam ka phera
man ki muraliya mein (2) (PLEASE LISTEN TO THE FLUTE-muraliya-baansuri !!)
sur ka singar bole
jai radhe shyam shyam
tan ke tambure mein jo
lagi lagan leeladhari se
jagi re jagmag jyoti (2)
ram naam ka heera paya (2)
shyam naam ka moti
jagi
pyaasi do akhiyon mein ..... (2)
ho ho ..............
aanso ki dhaar bole
jai radhe shyam shyam
tan ke tambure mein do saanson ke taar bole

Misti, you simply amaze me. Not too many people know of Pankaj Mallick. My parents introduced us to K. L. Saigal, Pankaj Mallick, K C Dey, etc. at a young age. I had tapes at first and now CDs. Pankaj Mallick was my favorite! I listen to PM's music when I feel low and I bounce back. You guessed correctly, I am a non-Bengali who appreciates his music but unfortunately I have his Hindi music, sung with such a distinct Bengali accent. If I did not learn the lyrics from my father, I would be lost today. Love it! He provided music and sang with noted singers like Saigal, etc. from that era.

Sometimes it feels like it is a generation that will be lost in a culture that is getting so westernized and won't appreciate the uniqueness that was, until it is too late! I saw the Sa Re Ga Ma.. mega episode on Sat. and could not find one song that was pure Hindi, unless it was an oldie!

Hey RaDev24,

Love them all and my favorite is Tere Mandir Ka Hun Deepak.
Add to that:
Aayi Bahar Aaj
Tu Dhoondhta Hai Jisko
Dilwale Dilgir Hua Kya
Shiv Stotram - absolutely beautiful, from Yaatrik
Manmohan Mukhda Mod Gaye
Madbhari Rut Jawan Hai
Kabtak Niraash Ki
Aaj Apni Mehnaton Ka
Kaun Desh Hai Jana
Mere Hathile Shyaam
Prem Bel Mein Phool Na Patte
and my all time favorites:
Pran Chaahe Naina Na Chaahe
Duniya Rang Rangili Baba - with Saigal
He had such a baritone voice! I feel I am transported to another world today! I have most likely bored the rest of the forum with this!

(Below I JUST HAD to copy someone's comment on this song ... this is called true worshipper of songs which truly deserve our undying praise and admiration ..
You have not only restored a beloved PM song ,? you have become a veritable trustee of many musical gems of the pre-1950 era. This is one of those songs that for true love birds quite likely evokes the tenderest romantic feelings on moonlit spring or summer evenings caressed by soothing breezes. Many, many thanks for graciously responding to my request. )
