I think he cried because he considers that he has failed his family. They had a lot of expectations from the Choti Bahu. He is emotionally drained and considers himself responsible for bringing dishonor to purohit family. He also is unable to face their questions. That feeling of guilt, combined with sense of failure made him cry.

I wish they showed the scene where he confronted Vishakha. It would have been interesting.
