27th March Written Update

Part I

Dev is proclaimed as the next Raj Purohit and everyone receive this with different feelings. Dev's mother is happy that he will not go to America, Vishakha is confused and Dadi is worried about what Dev must feel. Arjun and Chacha are shocked. Arjun asks Purohitji 'What is the meaning of all this, why did you do this, to dishonor me in front of everyone?' Chacha angrily asks Purohiji, 'Yes why give a false hope of making Arjun your successor when all along you wanted this'. Purohitji replies ' I did not dishonor you, you dishonored me, our tradition and this temple. When Dev refused to take up the responsibilities, I was sad but at least he was honest about his feelings. But you Arjun, you broke my faith. ' Chacha asks ' What are you trying to say?' and Purohitji replies, 'Ask your son, he knows what I am talking about. Yesterday night I saw him at the temple 'and walks away. Chacha asks Arjun what happened at the temple yesterday night and he keeps quiet. Chacha guesses the whole thing and slaps him.

Purohitji tells Vishali, 'You must be wondering why I did this. But trust me, I could not find anyone else other than Dev to take over the responsibilities.' Vishali replies that she is confident that what he did is right but how do they make Dev understand. Purohitji says that he knows that Dev will understand the situation and act accordingly.

The priest asks Dev to seek the elder's blessings. Everyone including Purohitji bless him. Dev tells his father that he wishes to speak to him.

Part II

Dev is angry and asks his father 'You knew that I wished to go to America and lead my life according to my wish. You were always proud that I could take my own decisions well so how could you do this now?' Vaishali tries to talk but Purohitji signals her to keep quiet. Vivek also tries to say something but Mrinalini stops him and says 'Let him talk. He is fighting for his happiness'. Everyone has a stricken look. Dev says ' No one can change my decision, neither you, nor your tradition. I am not so weak that anyone can play with my feelings.' And he walks away. Purohitji clutches his chest and collapses. Vaishali shouts for Dev and he turns to see his father fall down and comes running back crying 'Babuji!!'. A crowd gathers around and Dev frantically calls out to Birju to call the doctor. Purohitji says there is no need. Just like nobody can change your mind, this is also unavoidable. Dev cries and says 'I am sorry Babuji, it was all my fault. You cannot leave us.' Purohitji says ' Now you understand how I felt when you said you were leaving. Even now I will not compel you to take up the responsibilities if you don't wish.' Vaishali says,' Don't say that. He understands you, he will stay back.' Dev tries to tell him that he was helpless but Purohitji stops him and says ' You don't have to justify anything to me. I understand your feelings. Its time for me to go now.' And he starts gasping for breath and asks for water. Radhika passes on the gaga jal she has through the crowd and Dev gives his dad the last sip of water before Purohitji breathes his last. Everyone is crying and so is Radhika. Suddenly Amma spots Radhika in the crowd and calls her to a corner. She scolds Radhika and says ' So you could not stay back and came here after all !! I knew you will manage to cook up something. See how your mere presence brought bad luck. Everything was going on well before you came. Stay away from here.' Radhika looks at the Kanha idol and continues to cry.

Part III

Everyone is dressed in white and mourning. Dev looks on without any emotion. Someone removes the sindoor from Vaishali's forehead and there is a very emotional scene. Finally Shastriji signals that it is time to perform the last rites and Chacha asks Dev to wear the traditional dress and get ready to perform the final rites. Dev comes back after changing is clothes and Birju finds Dev standing alone looking far away and tries to console him. Dev doesn't show any grief on his face. Birju goes away to find Radhika and tells her, 'Radhikaji, now you MUST come with me. I cannot stand to see Dev's sorrow. He is completely broken so much so that he doesn't even have any tears left. He is suppressing all the grief within. I know that only you can help him now and give him strength to withstand all this. Please do not waste anymore time thinking if this is the right time or not because I am afraid there will not be any other chance left for you to tell him the truth. Now it is left to you but the truth is that your words will give him strength to face life.' And he leaves. Radhika is sitting alone and tells Kanha, ' I feel helpless that at this hour of need, I cannot be with him. No Kanha, till now I have kept the truth hidden and did not do my duty as a wife. But now I need to do what is Dharma'.

Precap

Chacha is asking everyone in the family 'Tomorrow after Dev goes to America, who will take care of everything? Who will take up the responsibilities of Raj Purohit?' And Dev replies ' I will.'

OMY ..i didn't think Dev's dad would be bumped off so soon. I thought he'd be around for a bit more and we'd see more drama because of his illness and not being able to tell the truth to him. But now this changes things.

Argghh hate this....now Vaishali will conviniently forget to tell Dev that his father was about to die anyway and didn't have long and Dev consumed with guilt will stay back and do all his duties and perhaps even accept Vishaka - he wouldn't want to bump off his Dadi or Vaishali too nah

Idiot creatives - now Radhika is ready to accept his duties of a wife - just when Dev will be ready to give up on her Arrrrggghhh hate it! hate it! hate it!

I know Dev's mom is a sneaky one, she doesn't tell Dev much, just let's him wallow in his own guilt.

I hope Dev still loves Radhika, and she consoles him, this serial has the two leads apart so long, it really sucks!

Thanks for update..its sad that purohitji no longer..but he did good job that he gave Dev to all responsible..
