My niece who lives near N Delhi is a young mom herself ..

Growing up she was crazy about mostly old hindi songs cuz my sis/BIL

just always listened to 50-60-70 movie songs (like her sis Prem)

Arre howcome i never got email notification for it?! just saw it in "my posts"😕

But anyhoo, if I tell you my life history surrounding music world and the significance of Rafiji's mahaanata and mahaan and inimitable singing had in my life, it will knock your socks off.

Actually not yest July 31st, but on 30th I went out of my way preparing a huge lamba chauda thread both for CB and dkdm (i mean c/paste one to the other), and the songs that were picked out ... if i say so myself, were knockout, rare, unique, not the very pop ones like ... chahe koi mujhe jungali kahi (of course i luv it too), some bhajans, ghazals, decked up with all sorts of images, you name it, but saved it (which i usually do 10 times esp if lot of mehnat goes into it), only once shuru shuru mein. then smack in the middle got an imp phone call from family in another state in the US. ret'd to the computer room much later and suddenly hit pata nahi which key and baam the whole thing simply vanished. just disappeared. 😲

Sonia i cant even begin to tell you ki ... kaato to khoon nahi. i cried. then i said to myself i guess this was meant to happen. And immersed myself listening to local 24/7 radio cuz everyone was just playing Rafi Saheb's songs only, period. had some more masala tea cuz it calms me down.

And decided not to post it. 😭😭

If you lived in the US (since i do talk to CB fans even today who live here), i would have talked to you at length dating back to when i used to be an RJ at a manhattan ethnic radio, it was month of july and i did a special tribute to Rafi Saheb. This was many years ago. The regular fans of moi radio program and friends there called me later and praised it profusely.

so that's in a nutshell😭😭

But so thankful to you to think of it and even remind me like you did for our saintly Pran Saheb
