Neerja, I am sure that the plan was to have Barkha as the fake wife even before she was brought in the show. Remember that SR scene where suddenly Dev could not figure out why Radhika was agreeing with Rohan despite all the hints. Then next day he could figure it out. This is the same guy who used his brains to stop their marriage the same day. Also he was the righteous one who would have never let Radhika (an unmarried girl) stay in Rohan's room. There was a line by Radhika to Dev where she told him that Kanha had some other girl for Dev in mind. All those were hints as there was an article too about Barkha's entry. Also the way Barkha was shown seemed to hint at her turning negative. Even in the cottage, one of the lines was that she was envious of Radhika getting somebody like Dev and that she wanted the same type of person. In this case, Barkha turned full-fledged negative just few days later. So all these scenes were just to deceive viewers. The only difference is that probably the earlier writers would not have destroyed Dev's character the way latter writers did.
However saying all, I did not have a big problem with Barkha turning negative. My main problem was how Dev was brought down and sidelined in order to keep her in the story artificially. A character like Dev would not have stayed passive and let Barkha control the wedding. Neither would he have believed Barkha over Radhika. Even when he didn't know Radhika well, he believed her over Maheswari whom he had respected for 12 years. So why would he suddenly believe a girl whom he didn't know over somebody who had done all those sacrifices for him and where he had seen her selflessness. So that just did not make sense. His raising hand on Radhika and then abandoning her to her fate (despite knowing that she had no means to protect herself) was destroying his character.
There were many shows where negative characters became famous , does not mean at the cost of leads ...
In many shows, the negative characters are actually liked and are entertaining. Rohan was a negative character, yet he belonged in the story and was very entertaining. One did not like him, but liked his character in the context of the story. In fact, negative characters make a story spicy and are needed especially in a serial. But artificial characters and disrespecting viewers' intelligence doesn't work in the long term.
when i watch VMs, just feel , where was the need for all kind of crap ...This time had story , which was different from the run of the mill kind of soaps , had all potential to be success with all kind of traits of human then why this shabby treatment to show and as well to viewers...Angie hats off to you for finding the scenes of the leads from 300 and odd episodes ...Is it not irony ?
Neerja, we will never know the thought process of creatives who destroyed a nice show because in the end, they did not get either longevity of the show or the ratings. As far as finding scenes is concerned, I have used mostly from the first five months of episodes. Finding something from the latter episodes (200th episode onwards) is really difficult.
Thanks for liking the VM and finding the story and characters we wanted. That's why I started to make them so that I can interpret these characters the way we used to do in Misti's thread.
