I liked the way you started the VM...specially that Mahant's expression and Bholu waking up with a surprised look . Avinash as Dev had some priceless expressions when Ruby was around...these two would have strangled each other. Ruby and RB brought out the wittiness in Dev and he used to come alive in their presence...it is as if all his nerve ends used to start jumping around when these two were around him. He also used to come alive when Radhika was around but that was much more calm and he used to be at ease there but with these two he used to just become a live wire.Unfortunately such lovely characters and chemistry were completely misused.
Misti, thanks for liking the VM. It didn't exactly come out the way I wanted either because of the scenes or because I got tired of editing in the end. Here there were lot of lines. So except for one exchange, I could have used all the lines. Since Bholu is "Sirji", I wanted Mahant to be his sidekick. His scandalized expressions at Ruby's western clothes were priceless. Instead of getting angry that Bholu & Phullu's muth was destroyed, he was more concerned about the dress code of RPtain.
If you noticed, this time I even included Dai/Padma because their expressions at seeing Ruby's dress and her dance was similar to Mahant. So these three are in same category and all three of course are followers of great Dada. That's why having Dada vs. Ruby/RB would have been entertaining. Oh well...Anyway, I wanted to have this entire sequence with win of Bholu over Ruby in that first round of "Project Demolition". I wanted Mahant, Bholu's lawyer and Ruby's lawyer as a part of that exchange. Ruby's lawyer was the puppet in that exchange. But there were two problems. One was Mahant had run away when he saw the bulldozer. So he wasn't there when Ruby was defeated by Radhika. Then I was having problems editing pieces of the song and joining them together. Maybe one of these days when I had no other VM in mind, I will refine this one.
I also wanted to have that exchange of Ruby where Ruby was winding up Bholu by taunting him about becoming goat from the lion. But that was not fitting in the middle of this song. I did put her decision to do Bholu's makeover in the sequence, but it is little forced.
But have you noticed that I am using your interpretations in several songs including this one? This was a result of all the discussions we used to have in your thread about these characters.
I too was feeling wistful that if only they had utilized these two great characters -Ruby and RB. They had such chemistry with Bholu and he was at his wittiest with these two. Bholu was sarcastic and intelligent when Rohan used to be there. But here Ruby and RB were two open characters. They were in your face kind of people with no hidden agendas. So it always seemed as if Bholu was at his most energetic self with Radhika trying to calm him down. There was one sequence which I thought of using. Bholu wanted to go after Ruby after she had insulted him and Radhika royally, but Radhika stopped him. That was also a great expression.
This track was never given a chance as the ratings had already started falling before this track came in place due to how they handled the end of Barkha track. Then they started with extreme caricature of characters especially of Ruby. I hadn't liked Jolly in the beginning at all the way he was shown, but by the time PF arrrived in Mumbai, he actually had turned out to be funny. His dry comments to Ruby were actually quite funny towards the end. But again nobody was given a chance. If instead of Radha/Madhavi track, they had continued with this track, either the ratings would have gone up or at least remained steady. On top of that, we would have gotten a better ending than the travesty we got in the last week.
Ok...enough of my venting. I had just mentioned to Laxmis that I am not doing that anymore. But ...leopards never change their spots fully...
I have watched War of the Roses...the couple there were literally ready to murder each other and I crackled throughout the entire movie. There was another movie called Adam's Rib with Spencer Tracy and Kathreen Hepburn which was also based on a warring couple which isalso very entertaining.
I had the same reaction when I watched the movie. Everything about it was so entertaining. I have heard of that Specener Tracy movie, but I haven't watched it. I will try to see this one.
