Television doesn't allow you to do anything else: Iqbal Khan
Iqbal Khan has jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

The actor, who now plays a fighter pilot in Miditech's 'Choona Hain Aasman', on STAR One, is celebrating, regardless of the fact that he has walked out of Ekta Kapoor's life, to join hands with Sandeep Sikand.

Q. What is it like, doing a show based on the Air Force?
A. It is not a show based on the Air Force, as in, we are not trying to show the audience how a plane takes off, or what machinery is used. The show is about the life of defence personnel, their lives and relationships.

Q. And you have already shot for 32 episodes?
A. (Surprised) I have? I thought we had shot only 4 or 5.

Q. How do you feel when your work is appreciated?
A. It is a wonderful feeling, when your hard work bears fruit.

Q. Tell us something about the character.
A. I play Abhimanyu Adhikari. He is a man of few words, and principles. He believes that rules make our lives better, and we should follow rules for a better society.

Q. Are you working on any other show?
A. I am playing the lead in a daily show already, and that is a tough job. You cannot think of doing another show.

Q. You have played various roles in various shows. How did you prepare for this one?
A. I have not made any deliberate attempt to do something different. I am lucky I got this chance to portray a different character, though.

Q. Do you think real defence personnel will identify with the characters in this show?
A. We are showing the normal life of people - their relationships, sadness, happiness - like all other shows. We are just showing it with a different perspective, and this need not apply only to defence personnel. The Air Force is just a backdrop.

Q. You did a little bit of comedy in the show. Will you be doing that more often?
A. It was just a situation that the writers had created; there was no effort from my side.

Q. Any favourite scene from what you have shot so far?
A. (Thinks) The entire Jaipur schedule was memorable. This is the first time I sat in a Sukhoi, one of the best fighter planes in India. That was a wonderful experience.

Q. You have worked in both serials and films. Any film we should watch out for?
A. No, not really. The television industry is so demanding that you cannot think of anything else. This is my show, and I am dedicated to it, so that leaves me with nothing else to think of.

sorry if already posted😊

Iqbal Khan's fiance gets hate mail

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

bonds that bind: Iqbal Khan with fiance Sneha

An email alleges that Sneha has started an Internet forum to attack Iqbal's co-stars
Subhash K Jha
thelist@mid-day.com

It started with an email from a woman claiming to be a fan of Iqbal Khan. The e-mail has a lot to say about Iqbal's fiance and soon-to-be-wife Sneha Chabria and her supposedly vicious attack on Iqbal's co-star Neha Bamb through public forums.
Simply Sneha
According to this woman, Iqbal's fiance has started her own Internet forum called IqbalOnly.tk with the express purpose of attacking Neha Bamb and Iqbal's colleague Eijaz Khan.
When told of this, Iqbal laughs. His first concern is for his fiance. "I hope Sneha doesn't get to hear of this. She'll burst into tears. She's a very simple, straightforward, domesticated girl, who has been with me before Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and television happened to me. She was with me at the time when I had thirteen rupees in my pocket and couldn't decide whether to use it for a meal or my auto fare, Sneha would provide the meal, so I wouldn't have to walk home."
Iqbal gets misty-eyed. "She gets very upset by all the hate mail and calls warning her against marrying me. But I just look into her eyes and say, "You're my everything. My encouragement, inspiration and life." And all her insecurities evaporate, because I mean what I say. Sneha is my world."
Yours anonymously
About the public forum on the Internet, Iqbal says, "Apparently, these forums have been started in Sneha and my name by anonymous people. Neither of us has any time or inclination to conduct campaigns for me on the Internet. I don't even know how to use the computer. Anyone is free on the Internet to use any name. It can be Iqbal or Sneha. But this Iqbal won't be separated from his Sneha no matter what happens."
Neha's no friend
About his co-star Neha Bamb, Iqbal admits they aren't the best of friends. "We did have problems initially, and I'd admit to them openly when asked. By the time I grew wiser and held my tongue, it was too late. Word had spread that Neha and I don't get along. We're cordial on the sets but not the best of friends. And my fiance is certainly not jealous of her. Why should she be? She has nothing to do with my career."

I am happy doing Television: Daljit Kaur

Daljit Kaur made her debut on television with Sony's 'Kulvadhu'. The show may not have gone in the direction the makers intended, but Daljit has left an impression the viewers.

She is now back with a role as Iqbal Khan's love interest, in 'Choona Hain Aasman', on STAR One. Co-incidentally, Daljit comes from an Army background.

Q. You have shot 32 episodes for 'Choona Hain Aasman'. How was the journey?
A. I was not there from the beginning, and was in fact, recently introduced into the show. However, I kept a track of the show, and it feels good to know that 32 episodes have been completed. We have been getting good response.

Q. 'Choona Hain Aasman' is a defence-oriented serial. Did you have any apprehensions before signing up for the show?
A. My father is a retired Colonel, and my sisters are both Captains. My real life has been associated with the Army and defence forces. I was very excited when I was offered the show, because it is different, from 'Kulvadhu' and other saas-bahu serials that I have done. It is satisfying.

Q. How much difference do you see between the real Air Force and the serial?
A. Miditech has done a good job with the research on uniforms, the walking, the attitude – the feel is close to life at the Air Force. Other than that, it cannot just like the Air Force, because portraying the same is difficult. My father does point out a few mistakes, but I think we have done a commendable job, and the show is running successfully. That says a lot.

Q. Have you ever thought of films?
A. Honestly, when I was doing 'Kulvadhu', the amount of publicity I got was more than I would have received in films. Television has the best of everything – make-up, costumes, glamour. The viewership is high, and we are getting good TRPs. I am happy doing television.

Q. What are the other projects that you are working on?
A. I am doing 'Saantan' on STAR Plus, where I play Suhaana. I was a part of 'Sirf Stories', recently launched on Sony SAB.

Q. Tell us about your character in 'Choona Hain Aasman'.
A. I play Shikha, who is involved with Abhimanyu, played by Iqbal Khan. With the entry of my character, an element of romance comes into the serial, which, so far, concentrated on the Air Force.

Q. You come from a defence background. How did acting happen?
A. I had participated in a few beauty pageants, and I was the runner-up in both Miss Navy and Miss Maharashtra. I was a finalist in Miss Mumbai. Then somebody told me about the auditions for 'CID', on Sony. The rest if history.
