http://www.bollywoodlife.com/news-gossip/why-didnt-sanaya-iranis-chhanchhan-gain-trps/

Chhanchhan kicked off with fanfare in March this year, but its TRPs couldn't take off in a big way

Sanaya Irani's relevantly new show is going off air in just seven months since it's launch, and the actor says it's a logical decision to end the show and she is looking forward to doing something bigger.

"The show is going off air. It wasn't gaining TRPs ... any show that doesn't have TRPs shouldn't be on-air, so there is nothing left to say," said the actor on the sets of the show on Tuesday. When newbie Farhan Khan was playing the role of Manav - the grapevine was that the show is not getting good ratings because of Farhan. The makers under pressure, changed the lead and brought in Anuj Sachdeva. We agree the chemistry did get better, but hardly created any world change for TRP. So we wonder was Farhan really to blame for the low numbers? Guess the makers forgot that besides the actors the most pivotal part of any show is the script too. It's not enough to just have good actors, right?

We believe the channel and the production house was hugely banking on Sanaya's popularity postIss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, but no one can drive content that doesn't work, no?

We are sure the actor will soon find something bigger and more exciting to do once the show ends. "I believe everything that happens in my life happens for a reason. So, I believe something bigger is waiting for me, that is why this has happened," said Sanaya.Good luck with that!

It just didn't work with viewer expectations.
Sony shows are for a minority group to begin with. Once an audience is lost hard to regain them back.
In any case I don't think this was a long running type of show to begin with.
I am happy Sanaya chose this show.
It gave her the distance she needed after the previous show and still be active.

@bold Agree with that part completely and was gainfully employed throughout.

I am so missing her interviews ...their were loads when the show started as part of show promotions , then they have been few and far between ...I wish we get some in her b'day week atleast ...

Good article ... and spot on. CC banked too much on Sanaya's popularity ... no big deal, good actors do manage to keep audiences engaged when scripts go haywire ... but it needed content and strong script and good characterization to showcase her acting skills, at least at the start, to get the audience hooked. Once an audience is engaged, then they stay engaged even if the shows spiral downwards, which inevitably happens. Here the script was weak and loose from the start and never managed to engage the audience. On top of which, after the superb chemistry in her last show, it needed a really good actor to match it or at least come somewhere close ... instead we got a wooden board. The show never recovered from the poor start.

Anyway, it gave Sanaya breathing space while keeping her employed and in the spotlight ... hopefully she will take a break and then be back in something bigger and better.

Am sure we will get some segments in her birthday week ... already TB was planning on shooting one before she goes out of town, right?

But for future plans, guess the wait will be longer ...

Trivia ... MJHT ended in Nov 2010, IPK started June 2011 ... seven months gap.

IPK ended Nov 2012, CC started March 2013 ... four months gap.

CC ending Sept 2013 ...

Hopefully, the next gap won't be longer than six-seven months ... less if she does NB6 ... but more if she is getting good offers, and decides to take up one of them ... she might skip NB6 in that case.

We really need a thread to discuss Sanaya's new shows ... 😆

Can't agree more Diya...we have discussed the issue of weak script umpteen number of times on the forum. How a production house like Optimystix got so many things wrong, they should know better. It's a pity that despite having one of the best cast, they could not deliver.

As far Sanaya is concerned she still comes out of this experience being appreciated for her professionalism and holding her own against an actor of the caliber of Supriya Pathak.
