This is my vote of thanks for retaining the show on your channel. Kuddos to you all.
I had been away from the forum for the past two weeks with a trip to India. With little or no internet access at home, it was hard to connect...nevertheless watched Chhanchhan religiously except the last two episodes. Was surprised and saddened to note the dwindling TRP results of Week 29 & Week 30.
On my return caught up with the last two epis yesterday. Whilst watching Thursday's episode and the Mukut track...what struck me was this. That despite the low TRP result Sony had taken the decision to air the show until next year March. And I do believe this is for a reason...because in my opinion Chhanchhan is a show with a difference. Sony and the PH in some way are fulfilling their social responsibility...and they would not back out of this project simply because of low TRPs. It makes me glad that Sanaya is the female protagonist of such a show. I remember her words in an interview...wherein she did mention, "Vipul Sir narrated the concept and he is an amazing story-teller." Today Sanaya's Newsroom interview answer on one of the questions said it all.
If one takes a look at the show these are the issues that the PH has highlighted until now. There may be flaws in the execution, but nevertheless the message is there for all to see.
1. Young women taking a stand against dowry
2. A young man choosing to marry the woman he loves
3. Friendship
4. Love for animals
5. A family supporting their children' chosen profession
6. A newly married couple wanting to spend time and get physically close to each other.
7. A young couple discussing family issues and communicating with each other
8. Use of technology in our daily lives.
9. A married woman trying to find her own space in her new home. Taking a stand against what she feels is logically incorrect..
10. Eating healthy
11. Marital discord and extra marital affair
12. A few other subtle issues that have been highlighted/raised by Dadaji -The oldest character in the show, yet shown to have a better understanding of things - Exercise, expecting Sanjana to have an opinion of her own, willing to accept change as per current times, acceptance of sensible reasoning over the dead ashes of his beloved wife...and many more
13. Sensibility versus tradition - Like vaccination vs a smoke filled room as prevention
No doubt imperfection has also been shown through UB's modus operandi or Mukut's affair, but these are being raised so that it is addressed and corrected or rectified...
I was left wondering yet why were the TRPs low?... Even though such wonderful tracks were being played out...then realized... What is missing is one of the elements that sadly sells and brings in high TRPs for the current shows and tracks on TV today.
And that is DRAMATIZED verbal, emotional or physical ABUSE in a relationship...may it be between a man & woman, or any other relationship... I am not here to point accusations at other shows, but I brought this up only to make a point.
Surely the channel Sony and PH needs to be commended for continuing with what they started...TRPs or no TRP ... I hope that many of you will join in to thank them for giving us a show with a difference like Chhanchhan.
Keep up the good work Team CC - Sanaya, Anuj, Anangji (Matilal), Supriyaji, Vaidhyaji (Dadaji), Jimit (Manthan), Rajiv (Mokut), Ranjana, Sanjana and the rest of the amazing cast.
