Let me first apologize for my lateness. I am trying hard to catch up with CC as I am almost done with most of my pre-summer vacation work now.

I just wanted some clarification. I understood the concept behind having an eco-friendly wedding. I completely got the point of cutting down on costs. Actually, there are people in our society who are pushing for court marriage or a very simple in-house ceremony because guys are suffering from huge debts these days due to social demands of throwing lavish reception parties. It has become a serious social issue and a lot of critics are debating the underlying cause.

What I did not understand was the point behind forcing people to finish the food on their plates. Me and my sister were discussing it. She reminded me that one of our Indian family friends would also insist that we finish our food stating that so many people go hungry around the world. I obviously understand the concept of not wasting food and I am highly against it. That's why I don't favor buffets cuz people tend to get huge amounts of food that they later find impossible to finish. So it made sense when the guests were reminded to take small portions and go for refills if they wanted more food. It's simple logic that you can then distribute the remaining food to the poor people. But how does forcing guests to finish their leftovers help feed the poor? I am sure there are people out there who wouldn't even mind eating the leftovers. So wouldn't it make more sense to give it to those people rather than overfeed the guests?

Since I saw this concept in CC and the family friend who expressed exactly the same view was Indian, I thought it might be a general understanding among Indians. If so, someone from this forum should be able to explain it.

Your leftovers from the plate cannot be given to another person ...in the indian context it is called' jhootha ' food and it is disrespectful to give it to anybody , so usually is dumped in the dustbin. Only leftover food from the table can be given ...

We have always been taught that take only thatmuch in your plate that you can finish ...donot waste food . I hope I was of help😊

Exactly! The child said that all the extra food would be given to the poor, that obviously excludes the stuff that the guests would have thrown in the dustbin. Ultimately finishing the food taken on platter n throwing away a bit amounted to the same thing...the former couldn't have benefited anyone!

The thought...if you took it...eat it.
Also, food was buffet style...but again...take what you want...everybody is equal so nobody will be waited upon.
The concept was explained to the Borisagars. They failed to inform their guests adequately. There was one univited guest ...and were afraid to explain to him...but at the end he was pleasantly appreciative of the concept.
The paper decorations were a bit much...I personally prefer flowering plants...get them in all varieties...look beautiful...either return to nursery or put them in your own garden or around the house.
