Curious to see how people would handle a similar situation.

Do note, option one is thinking about breaking ties. And to those that put something else do post.

well if my mom expected me to do that I'll break ties with her( if she doesn't have a valid reason) because no mother who truly loves her child will want to see her child unhappy and miserable. If you really think about it UB can sacrifice her children's happiness for hers...she really has no feelings for her kids.

My question to you is if you did not know the reason for your mother's wish (you assume she does not know of ChCh) and you had to face the situation, would your answer change?

then I will tell her I am in love with someone else and she should meet the person I'm in love with. If she refuses too then she better have a good reason otherwise my first answer applies

People can say that Manav doesn't deserve Chanchan and all but honestly, every child loves his mother dearly. And if I felt that my mother was truly dying, then I would try to fulfill all of her last wishes. Getting married is obviously a big decision. If I were Manav, I'd try to explain to her that there is a girl he's interested in, but knowing Umaben, she'd emotionally blackmail him or convince him some other way. I'd talk to the girls that she's trying to make me meet and do something to make them call off the wedding. But knowing that she's going to die, I would probably go on with an engagement that's fake. In a totally filmy condition, I guess Manav could even pay some actress to marry him and later she could just leave him. Or have the ultimate filmy scenario where the girl under the ghungat changes to Chanchan magically!

I like the creative direction of your solution. 😊

The situation is that Manav has no clue about his mom's dislike for Chhanchhan ...and that just a few days ago, Manav's mom had asked him about his dream girl.

So if I was Manav, and Chhanchhan is obviously a nice girl from a good family, the first thing I would do would do would be to tell her that there is a girl in my life who qualifies on all the points Uma Ben wants for Manav's bahu ... and then get her to meet Chhanchhan ... there is really no reason for CC not to qualify as a good bahu.

If I knew my mom was against love marriages for whatever reasons ... there are people like that ... I would do something similar to what Him-Sim are doing ... set up the meeting as an "arranged marriage" scenario ... i.e try for a respected elder to introduce CC as a good match to Uma Ben.

Something else.

I would tell her that she can pick the girl but I will marry only if I also like her. I would reject every single girl she picks and eventually tell her who my choice is.
