Agreed. I always wondered what motivated Max to ask her to marry him. Later on in the book, Max says he fell in love with her but that makes about as much sense as JIJAJI falling in love with Akshu's voice. Why would he? For her innocence and lack of sophistication? It seems off. My guess he was abroad looking for a new mistress for Manderlay and he figured here was someone the exact opposite of Rebecca and could tell she had fallen for him. Maybe later he did fall in love with her...

Max was a bit off-putting I thought. And I couldn't figure out if he ever was in love with Rebecca. Why did he marry HER? For status?

My favorite character was Mrs. Danvers followed by Jack Favell😆

I love reading Rebecca just for how evocatively Daphne Du Maurier builds the atmosphere but My Cousin Rachel is a far better book.

I haven't read My Cousin Rachel.

Also, i don't remember a lot from Rebecca because it's been years since I read it. But one thing that I remember so well is how she gets ready for the ball wearing the similar dress of Rebecca and he gets so upset. That scene is so etched in my mind because along with her, I also felt embarrassed. 😅

This is the American way I guess. Their body, their choice but if you are going for a different choice, they can't stand it

At least 15 of my classmates who caught Covid since Nov 2021 are still not back to normal. I'm honestly kind of amazed I haven't already (or maybe I did and was just asymptomatic...).

Wear one if it makes you feel safe, I would say. If you catch covid, it might not be serious. But a lot of my friends say they have had fatigue and body pain, lack of sleep/appetite etc for a long time after recovery

Btw in HC's show Humsafars they kind of stole that idea. Actually also in Bepannah when Zoya shows up at Aditya's bday party in Pooja's sari🤣

Haven't watched Humsafars. Also stopped watching Bepannah after some 20 episodes because I can't stand HC. 😆

This show is definitely gonna cost HC some fans but maybe a drop in the ocean - I'm sure he's not losing sleep, not over this anyway🤣

For an ITV show, Bepannah is up there at least for the first 60 and possibly 100 some episodes. It gets spectacularly bad towards the end. But it's not so good either that I'd recommend watching😆

By the way I saw this Hindi movie called The Music Teacher on Netflix - it's pretty good. It's not typical Bollywood for sure and very well acted.

I don't like majority of my school life and college life memories.

But I have very few (countable in one hand) but extremely loyal friends I have collected from these places. But i have made peace with those times and have salvaged a few good memories that I reminisce without being shadowed by bad memories.

I read the book a long time ago, I don't remember much to back up my statement that Max used her.

I went back to my goodreads review 😆 I had written that it felt like her whole world revolved around him and he couldn't care less about her. She was too timid for my liking and she grew a spine only when she realized that Max didn't love Rebecca 🤔

You should watch Humsafars (selected episodes) to see that HC can actually act 😆

I just watched the trailer of a show called Mrs. and Mr. Shameem and it's going to premiere on Zee5 on 11th March. It has Saba Qamar and Nauman Ijaz. It's different and it's always nice to see Pakistani actors try different things but the trailer also made me sad for the compromises that people have to make to survive and get on in this world.

Do watch it if you haven't and let me know your thoughts.

Saba has done some good work. She was in Hindi Medium and I also watched a drama called Besharam which was nice. Nauman Ijaz is also a good actor. He was in Jackson Heights and Raqeeb Se - two dramas which I liked.
