The fire guy has done the most natural acting in the entire episode🤣

Haven't seen the episode so don't know the deal with fire guy.

But I agree, Abhimanyu is the carbon copy of Harsh. May he worse because Harsh is not self righteous like the piece of shit Abhimanyu.

I just watched a few minutes of the epsiode towards the end. Guys, Abhimanyu says Harsh's problem is ego. Lol.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That is definitely the punch line of the episode and I don't even have to the see the rest or understand the context.

I thought both were being very transactional at the beginning of their relationship. We don't actually know why Max asked her to marry him (worst proposal EVER - she thought he was asking her to be his SECRETARY🤣).
But I didn't think she was being taken advantage of as she basically hated Mrs van Hopper (who wouldn't) and was infatuated with Max (and Manderlay). SHE went back to the hotel specifically to see him after lying to Mrs Van Hopper about something or the other.

I thought she was being rather opportunistic for an innocent gamine...

Yep. I didn't think she was being completely manipulated. She was a sly gold digger. 😬

Don't you think?

Maybe not consciously but definitely not an naive ingenue. She does talk about how she always wanted to visit Manderly since the postcard she bought as a child. And then she suddenly gets this chance to meet the tall, dark widowed owner who clearly is into her. She definitely jumped in on that opportunity. Maybe it was impulse rather than calculation but it wasn't against her will or interests. Mrs van Hopper would've had her married off to some waiter or other 🤣

Yeah. But I think it was also obvious that she wanted an easy life. So she utilized the opportunity she got to the best of her abilities. It never even occurred to me that he was trying to manipulate/trap her.

'Rebecca' SPOILERS HERE @austen-eliot

Agreed. I always wondered what motivated Max to ask her to marry him. Later on in the book, Max says he fell in love with her but that makes about as much sense as JIJAJI falling in love with Akshu's voice. Why would he? For her innocence and lack of sophistication? It seems off. My guess he was abroad looking for a new mistress for Manderlay and he figured here was someone the exact opposite of Rebecca and could tell she had fallen for him. Maybe later he did fall in love with her...

Max was a bit off-putting I thought. And I couldn't figure out if he ever was in love with Rebecca. Why did he marry HER? For status?

My favorite character was Mrs. Danvers followed by Jack Favell😆

I love reading Rebecca just for how evocatively Daphne Du Maurier builds the atmosphere but My Cousin Rachel is a far better book.
