Since we're finished with the stage / performance theme (Well I'm assuming...😳) I have a theme in mind since last week.

The female solos have always been a sort of enigmas in the Hindi movie industry. My theme revolves around female solos which involve around female characters going the extra mile and cajoling / tempting the recipient in front of them. Something enticing...or trying to dupe the Hero / Villain into making the mistake which could end or change the course of the story. Where the hero is rendered speechless or can do nothing but watch the woman while she plays femme fatale to stall his destruction or turn the story altogether!

Songs that represent the psychological know how of women when they're in the lion's den, ykwim?

This is the first time I'm posting a theme so I'm literally miles away from Madhu and Lizzie Dee please endure me while I gain exposure here, lol. 🤡

Around a year ago, Lata Mangeshkar left us.. Today, the entire Sunday edition of our local newspaper is dedicated to Lata. I am gonna spend my day reading to those 8-10 articles on Lata didi's songs and trivias! I'm already feeling nostalgic, those newspaper articles have been great catalyst in developing my interest and increasing my knowledge of the golden era of bollywood film music ❤️

Vani Jairam has sung many Marathi songs as well. One of very famous of them is a Natya geet, a duet with Kumar Gandharva. Vasant Desai was introduced to her voice by her guru Ustad Abdul Rahman Khan, and after listening to her performance, he wanted only Vani to sing this song for him.

Here is an excerpt from an article about this song.

In the year 1969, Vani was to give her first performance in Mumbai. “My guru had told Vasant Desai about me. He listened to my performance that day and asked me to come over to the studios.” Vasant Desai was recording a Marathi album with Kumar Gandharva and wanted Vani to sing with him. But Kumar Gandharva, being the maestro he was, had till then refused to sing with any other female musician. That day, after listening to Vani, he said: “ Achcha… , Dada recording kab hain ?” What they sang together – “Runanubandacha” – has gone into the list of evergreen Marathi numbers.

During the launch of the book, “Vasant Desai – Composer Par Excellence”, the singer Vani Jairam said: “He was Bhagwan to me.” The immortal relationship of Vasant Desai and Vani Jairam began with the timeless Marathi song “Runanubhandacha” in 1969, giving Vani a huge entry into the world of Marathi music. Soon, she became a household name in the entire country when Vasant Desai made her sing “Bole Re Papihara” for Guddi . Vani Jairam, who regards him as her mentor and guide, travelled all over Maharashtra teaching Marathi songs to school children. “If there was no Vasant Desai, there would be no Vani Jairam,” Vani had said that evening in a poignant tribute. “He told me to work hard, sing well, earn a lot of money, pay my taxes and sleep well at night.”
