I love this song sooooooo much Neha dear. 🤗 Thank you. ❤️ There is so much written about K. L. Saigal's modest background, as a child he earned his music education informally, singing along with people at a local shrine or at religious ceremonies with his mother.

He worked several odd jobs, a timekeeper, salesman, and manager, pursuing singing on the side. Became a great singer, adored by millions of music lovers , but unfortunately Saigal had turned alcoholic and died at an early age of 42 in his ancestral city of Jalandhar on January 18, 1947.

His voice really had a charm and he performed live, back in those days playback wasn't a thing. So most of his songs and movies were recorded as is.

True, God loves to keep his gems close by, hence all great artists usually leave early.😭

I heard them on the radio as well, but also watched them because of my passion for watching old movies and songs. A lot of shows -like Chitrahaar and some others would show these songs on TV. Not anymore 😭. Classics these days means 1990s and 2000s!

Actually, there are still quite a few channels that play these gems, songs as well as movies. I get a couple of them on TV. After DK's demise, watched many of his movies in a week's time ❤️

Posting a little off beat song today 😊

This is one of the many Marathi songs that Rafi has sung.. The genre is Bhakti Geet, meaning devotional song, a genre that was very popular in Marathi music back then.

The lyrics translates to- O mankind you are searching for God in temples and other devotional places, but the God resides within ourselves!!

Hoping you all will like it 🤗

Thank you for posting this! ❤️
Loved the song and the deep meaning behind it (I do understand some Marathi) and of course, Rafi’s rendition. Have heard a lot of non-film ghazals by Rafi but it’s my first time hearing a Marathi song by him. Impeccable as usual!

My Dad was a huge Saigal (and Pankaj Mullick) fan and would play his songs all the time! They have grown on me over the years. Have to admit the man’s prowess. His ‘sur’ is so pukka. Amazing singing.

My favourite song by him

main kya janoon kya jadu hai

In do matware nainon mein..

Just mind-blowing!

No wonder so many singers from Rafi to Kishore to Lata considered him their role model!
