That's where there's a difficulty. London is an expensive place to live. Most people rent from private landlords. For holidays or short stays there are hostels and hotels. These are okay for those purposes but for a year or longer they are not ideal because most are mixed gender hostel and also vary in terms of quality.
To rent you will need a means of income to pay the rent and any additional bills or expenses you have including travel like the bus or train. That can all add up and most money will go between rent, bills and travel. Then comes your food, necessities and then anything you want to buy.
You may also need a residence permit to stay long term which sometimes requires you to already have got a job ready before you arrive or may restrict you from what jobs you can do in London. For this you will need to get advice from someone who understands how immigration laws work.
It does not mean that you can't do it, it means you need to do a lot of planning and preparation and know that even staying for a year abroad is not easy as a holiday. Do the research and make sure to cover everything so you are well prepared. And also remember there will be times when you feel homesick as well if you don't have a support network in place. So do make sure you have one so you know who you can reach out too if needed.
If you haven't been to London before then I definitely suggest a holiday here so you can see what it's like for a some weeks and see if it suits you. You'll get to see how the transport works, how expenses can be handled and things like that which can help you decide if this is indeed where you want to stay for longer. You could even scout places to stay and get advice. If you know anyone who has done what you want to do, talk to them as well.
