What's a Christmas celebration without food? For many, dishes such as pizzas, burgers, cakes are daily affairs. But these little ones, they struggle to find even one bit of food for themselves, rather even starve for half of the days. So this Christmas, the travellers brought in a variety of delicacies which are simple and yet can make a child's day. Some traditional and some twisted recipes that are very easy to make, that'd melt these frozen hearts and leave their mouth watering.

The kids went up to the dining area which was beautifully decorated with candles with the tempting delicacies besides them. They all sat on the ground, with their mouth watering at the sight of it. The travelers took it upon themselves to explain to the kids what each dish was, and how easy they were to make.

A Christmas without a fruit cake is an incomplete one. But cake without an oven? Yes its possible! Infact, its a commonly used procedure among us Indians. Cakes with a pressure cooker. One of the easiest to make and also as tasty as the oven one.

Samosa's are one of India's favourite recipes. But what when our samosa meets spring rolls. Spring rolls stuffing in samosa's batter! Can samosas get better?

Traditional rotis. These kids would have eaten rotis for sure. But pizzas? Far from affordable! So here's the twist, roasted rotis with a little veggies and a little cheese. There it is, we present our very own roti pizza for our little ones. It's filling, a better version of the same old rotis, and moreover easy to make. What more would these kids ask for?

For all non veg lovers, as the tradition brings to us, turkeys are one of the essentials in a Christmas. But where do we hunt for turkeys now? So, here's our roasted chicken to replace the very old turkey yet to maintain the tradition.

Ice-cream is every child's favourite. There wouldn't be any child who wouldn't love icecream! But pair it up with our traditional Gulab Jamun? There could be nothing more delicious. The western taste of icecream blended with the desi gulab jamun is sure to give the kids a hearty time

The travellers had an immense sense of satisfaction and happiness seeing the kinds gawking at the food and enjoying themselves there. But little did they know, this was not the end😆

Christmas without presents, Isn't so pleasant

Gifts give joy, be it for a girl or a boy

But for them it's happiness

Once in a lifetime.

The travellers are here to bring a smile on their lonely faces, to share presents and happiness.

To erase the pain and gift them joy and ecstasy this Christmas.

The travellers picked out the gifts one by one and distrivuted them among the kids

Books: It is said that Books wash away from the soul the dust of everyday life. What are Books? The pages with flowing words bounded together. Isn't it a joy to read and further more to gift? A book is always a pleasure in leisure. Let the joy reach the purest souls. Anyone who read a book as a child knows the value of a good piece of literature. Whether it's a fictional story, a biographical piece with lessons from history or an inspirational one or something very different, books have the spark to generate curiosity, introduce innovation and open the doors for opportunity.

So aren't Books a great choice for the Christmas reads? A chance for the frozen hearts to acknowledge, the importance for knowledge?

Toys: Childhood's constant companions are the toys, but in those dark cells there are none to talk to, none to laugh at and none to play with. Every Christmas we had lots of toys to play with, but they have none. This Christmas let's make the children happy. Let's turn their tears into smiles. They would love a soft teddy bear or a Car, a Barbie or a Robot. Won't their beaming faces, make you proud?

Clothes: We have a wardrobe full of too many clothes. But they have only a pair of tatters to wear every day. Clothes of many types, many sizes they would love to wear. A pant and shirt for a boy and for girls you have a variety of ranges from frocks to Indian to western. They would love them all. So aren't they a cool way of gifting this Christmas

Chocolates: The first thing which comes out of your hungry mouths, when you hear chocolate is Yummy', Delicious', I just love them'. But for them when basic necessities aren't available chocolates are a boon. Their mouth water's seeing their friends having one. But there is none to be told. Pitying won't help, a chocolate doesn't cost more than Rupees five or so but for them it's a joyous fest. So I don't think you would mind gifting them chocolate boxes this Christmas. Would you?

Handmade cards: What can make the kids happier than a card made by you? Their faces will surely beam with the joy of your present. Tuck a few gift cards in decorative sacks and then hand them to the young brigade, they would surely love your gift. What would be more valuable for them than your heart felt Christmas wishes?

Balloons: You love balloons because you love the birds flying in the air. Balloons they can touch the skies. They teach us to fly up without fears. Let's fill the frozen hearts with the joy of balloons. Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon. How much would they cost? Not much, not more than their gleaming faces

Games: As soon as the holidays start, we have lots of games to play. We all love playing this games in times of leisure. What about gifting the young souls, a chess board to test their intellect, a game of life' or a skate board this Christmas? Arriving in different forms, they would be easily available. The children would surely love them all.

Candles: What happens when there's no electricity for a day? We panic, it's impossible for us to spend a day without light, but for them every day is dark and every night their homes have no light. Gifting them candles this Christmas won't just lighten their homes, but also their hearts. Let the light shine every day in their hearts.

So won't lighting candles embark their journey towards light? Won't they help driving away the darkness of ignorance from their lives? So what about gifting them candles? Cheap and worthy too.

Art set: Gifting art sets this season would add to the fun of Christmas. Painting is enjoyable for all children irrespective of the place they are born. This Christmas let's fill the lives of those children with colors of joy and paints. They would surely love an art set to fulfill their dream canvas.

Flower bouquet: If you find nothing at last, flower bouquets are the best to gift the kids. As kids surely love plucking flowers. They are available in a variety of shapes; sizes, colors and each one of them have a distinct smell. The flowers would fill the kids' heart with fragrance and love. Would teach them to grow through thick and thin. So even though you buy a flower bouquet, it would surely be a blissful day for the kids.

So do give gifts this Christmas, however big or small, the manner of giving is more important than the gift.

Spread happiness through the young hearts, that's the motto the travelers followed.😆

We enlightened a frosty, cold day in the lives of the sweet little children with the all the joys of C h r i s t m a s, and then we left. But is this fair? To build up a beautiful dream and let it collapse into dust?

We shall have to p r e s e r v e this dream and help these children, in course of time, to turn this happiness and carefree joy into reality. After all, they are as much deserving of mother Nature's unending love as we are.

We the people, who can afford an internet connection to visit our I n d i a F o r u m s, shall have to help them achieve the blessings of this world.

They say, drops of water make an o c e a n.

Lets give a poor boy on the main road a five rupee c h o c o l a t einstead of a casual one-rupee coin.

Lets promise to provide some m i l k everyday for the children in the nearby slum.

Lets call in the helper's child and teach him to r e a d.

Lets give a child on the street a warm b l a n k e t to cover himself at night.

Lets enclose our old clothes and toys in a wrapping paper and g i f t them to the children who cannot buy them.

Lets beckon them close to our h e a r t s and promise to be by them.

Do anything within your budget. Make a child happy this Christmas and see the magic! The magic of the s m i l e you'd bring on his face.

The group of travellers came to Valasa, and changed the life of the children. That's not it, the children changed their lives too. The children led to the foundation of SpreadingSmiles.org, an organzisation which helped the underprivilaged kids, and as the name suggests, brought a smile to all the dull faces.

The travelers that later led to SpredingSmiles.org has done their bit in making christmas special for all the children of Valasa, but children without any facilities or we can underprivilaged children are not only limited to Valasa, but in almost every state of India we have a sector of people who find it difficult to even get their basic necessities.
We thought of asking some distinguished members of India-Forums.com how will they make Christmas special for these unprivilaged children.
We asked a common question to all of them and lets see what they answered.

Question:What do you think about the problems faced by underprivileged children? How will you make Christmas special for such children?

Channel Moderator at India-Forums.com

I think its sad and unfortunate that there are so many underpriviledged children out there, at this time of year I would make Christmas special by giving toys, donating books and games that I no longer use and just give back. There are so many things that many of us take for granted but for those kids, the smallest gesture can put a huge smile on their faces.

Children are the future and it is the responsibility of adults to protect them and ensure that they get the best footing in life. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in many nations around the world. There are many terrible issues like poverty, lack of facilities and access to education, child labour and wrong influence on the children. These are not problems which can be sorted in the blink of an eye. The feeling of seeing young children suffering endlessly is inexpressible.

If I was given a chance to make underprivileged children's Christmas special, then I would opt for the simplest and most valuable thing anyone can give. Something which cannot be taken back when it's given and that is; time. Rather than just donating some money, spending time with them asking their names and what they like to do. Connecting with the children and showing them that you're interested in their country and culture by doing little things like dining with them in a local eatery. Make the children feel like they've done something special by asking them to teach you some of the basics of their language and teaching them a few phrases of yours. These are the priceless things which will leave a piece of you with the children.

But at the end of the day, there isn't much that can be done except donating to organisations in hope that you will make a difference.

Basic civic needs and education is what they lack.

Pray that we get good govt. officials/politicians who will do the needful to these kids.
Personally,I have been helping a handful to get education.

Underprivileged children are mostly deprived of either basic necessities or love. Mostly they feel themselves unworthy & burden. They do not need our pity rather unconditional care & love. They do not know what's are festivals like Christmas. Its just one of the day of a year. I want to feel them that they are worthy of, not just a burden, most importantly to be loved.
A Surprise Party with Santa along with lots of gifts. I like to invite all my friends & family there who will enjoy Christmas with those kids. Every invited person have to contribute something for their future welfare.

First of all, I don't deem it to be necessary for everyone around the world to celebrate a lavish Christmas. Reason being, obviously, the underprivileged feel out of place because they cannot celebrate. This opinion remains the same for all the festive seasons that have unnecessary spending including Eid and Diwali as well. I believe that same money should be donated to persons who essentially are in need of it.

Coming back to point, it is our moral duty to try our best to provide a decent Christmas celebration to those who cannot afford it. The best way through this, since children are the subject here, is to act as a Secret Santa for children and leave presents for them on Christmas eve. This gives them that little happiness of the festive season, and it also comes in the truest form of traditional Christmas, the Santa Claus.

Crazy Creative Minion

I think it is really unfair that these kids have to go through such a hard life at such a young age.

It isnt about just making their christmas special but to better their standard of living. Instead of giving them money giving them food to eat. Helping them get a good education. Anything in my power i'd do to help these little kids lead a better life. :)

POST 2
The Howling Vermiltitude

The jaggered ridges of our mud coated boots scrunched the pebbles as we prodded into a rugged, perhaps uncharted, terrain.

We, the members of Anna Charity Trust and a group of eleven members, were promoting one of our new Christmas projects 'Make Them Smile A While' by distributing chocolates when a Lanky figure barely wrapped in a tattered cloth caught our peripheral view. It tucked somewhere deep to see the boy, almost certainly of 10 years, in threadbare fighting the bitter frost of chilling December for a meagre chocolate while we stood shivering even while cocooned in branded insulating jackets. Ironical, isn't it? Slithering past the crowd I and Rosh approached the boy only to have him run past us with an obvious look of trepidation, wrenching our hearts. So, now here we are, in the stinky valley of malnourished inhabitants- the downtrodden and poorest of the poor section of the biased society that we are a part of, a place that one sees in the scariest of their nightmares is right infront of us in all it's naked gloom.

Deepu, 9 years old, Deepu's father was a heavy alcoholic and died by setting fire to himself. His disabled mother was destitute and unable to look after Deepu, so he started begging at railway station.

Pinkie is deaf and mute. She communicates using sign languages and lives in a slum, with her elder brother who works in tea stall in morning andjuggle with oranges as an afternoon job in busy street.

Rukhsana, 17 years old, also has 9 months old baby girl. She had been on the streets for about 4 and half years. This baby girl is actually her second child, the first one died before the age of one. Nobody knows about the father.

Rajan was abandoned by his mother after her second marriage. He now lives like an orphan. He has experiences of different kind of jobs like-pickpocketing, begging, wiping cars etc..

We know we can't remove poverty. We know we can't change their lives overnight. But we can give them a chance to smile, a real carefree smile of glee.
Children are said to be the manifestation of God. But these underprivileged children are living in hell. The lights of Christmas eve never reaches to their tents. They never get to hear the sound of carols, and even if they do, they hardly feel anything about it.
What we can do for these frozen souls and how? Why they will have to remain in sulky face when rest of the world is partying and having fun?Every human has right to be happy. So, this Christmas, lets see how a group of travellers decide to light up the darkest corner. How these travellers chance upon a town named Valasa, where Christmas isn't merry. How the kids changed them, and how they changed the kids' life.

This Christmas- going to be different as this time the broken angels will smile...
