Add what potato famine is.
Add a bit more at the end about how the new traditions came into being.
Use pictures.

A blend of celebrations marking the end of the growing season, a heralding of the coming of the winter months and folk traditions that told of the day when the transparent, gossamer veil between the
l i v i n g and the d e a d, would lift and ghosts and ghouls would walk among the living is what H a l l o w e e n is all about.

Abbreviated from "A l l H a l l o w s E v e", a traditional name for the Catholic holiday of "All Saints' Day", things like carved pumpkins, costumes, trick or treat, weren't the things that described Halloween. It's because of the Celtic holiday of Samhain, "The Holy Evening", or "All Saint's Eve" which was celebrated only to remember the deceased. Based on the belief that on this day the spirits of the people who died over the course of the year mingle with the living before travelling on to the afterlife, the celebrations were meant to aid the good souls and prevent the evil ones from harming the l i v i n g.

A fusion of old Celtic Harvest festivals of Ireland, and Christian practices, the festival has its roots traced back to the 1 6th century. It became popular only by the first decade of 20th century.

Then from where did the tradition of equating Halloween with pumpkins and scary costumes emerge?

It were the European immigrants who brought in the tradition of dressing up in scary costumes while the tradition of "trick-or-treat" was added to it by the Irish to celebrate their escape from the P o t a t o F a m i n e.

'H a l l o w e e n n i g h t' is approaching and to decorate your homes,
you might be looking for some cool and easy ways to transform your lovely homes into an e e r i e, s p i n e - c h i l l i n g lair!

Here are some tips and tricks you can use to change your house into a
b e w i t c h e d d e n!

When you think of Halloween, the first thing that comes into your mind is a pumpkin, isn't it?
With a slight touch of imagination and a drop of patience,
you can create your own unique and spectacular carved pumpkins !
Use a knife to carve the shapes on the pumpkins and then light a lantern or a bunch of candles inside them so that you get a glowing, scintillating effect.

To decorate your dining rooms, a great role is played by the colors that you use: orange and black are a must choice as they are considered to be the Halloween colours. The table must look terrifying. Load it with self-made cobwebs, fake spiders, skeleton masks and Halloween-themed dining cloth. Play with the lighting of the room, using candles and lanterns.

If you want to bring something truly horrific to your homes, you cannot restrict yourself to lighting just a few candles and leaving some pumpkins here and there. You have to turn your house into a scary dungeon, sending chills down every visitor's spine. In order to truly scare your friends, add tit-bits of fearsome detailing at the places they would least expect: leave a trace of blood on the bathroom mirror, add bloody footsteps every other corner, you can augment it by decorating your bathroom in a frighteningway, say, by recreating a scene from the movie Psycho!

Do you want to turn your garden into a spooktacular cemetery!?What's better than to add a line of tombstones engraved with your visitor's names! Also near the tombstones, leave a stained gauze using a red dye , lanternsand other eerie items that come to your mind.

Another way to scare your guests is to give them a mini heart-attack by placing scare crows in your garden, or sketelon bones scattered here and there.
Even better, ask one of your friends to dress up as a scare crow, asking them to jump on the guests when they are least expecting it and send a jolt of panic in their hearts.
