Hi all

Since we are discussing Arjun's exile, I want one clarification

As per KMG after listening to Narada the brothers decide that when one brother is intimate with Panchali and other witnesses it he has to go for exile to prevent jealousy between brothers

There is no mention of Draupadi spending one year with each brother anywhere... I searched all the parvas..

Then why is it called one year rule...does ce mention one year clause or is it interpolation. I can see the logic in the rule as per kMG ...it is painful to watch the person you love intimate with some one else, even in a polygamous marriage for the wife...men have their peanut size egos to deal with too...

But 1 year rule logic I don't understand

Also the virginity thing is only mentioned at the time of wedding that, after being married she regains her virginity for the next marriage

Pls clarify this

But you are right I think, it doesn't come in KMG. People who have read this part of CE, some help?

Anu, in the Panchai/Satya covo, she mentions Narad and his talks with the Ps about the one yr, I think. If that convo is an interpolation, then not sure.

Adi is fine...anu,

If pandavas can share a wife then why not children.. Also looking at children wouldn't they know...maybe for nakkul shadev but wouldn't Panchali know and would her statement be enough...

Well Adi, apparently they were fine like that for the initial days of her marriage. its after that, that Narad comes and spoils it. The P's shouldn't have a problem, where children are concerned. If all their wives can accept thier kids then they should accept their wives kids too.

But if Paternity is to be determined, it can be a problem, if u have multiple partners, no?

I don't think they used to discriminate between their kids. There is a line in Van Parva which refers to Sutsom as Arjun's son. Obviously Arjun treated him as his own son otherwise why this thing is written?After UP's death Yudhi did not cry only for Prativindhya. And as per rules I think (Manu Smriti? I have to check) a married lady's all kids must be considered as her husband's kids only. Hence each of the UPs had five fathers.

Panchali would not be able to tell. I don't want to go into the deets of fertility cycle 😆.

Yeah you are right, if they could accept the division, they should have been able to accept the children regardless of paternity.

Also found it interesting that in DS, she mentions only PV baby.
