This morning, I looked up the news, and this video was linked to one of the top headlines of the day:

I watched it with mild disgust and then spent the day entertaining myself with this matter...

The two characters here are a.) the woman called Deepa Sharma, self-proclaimed dharma-guru and jyotishi, and b.) the baba in red, who is also a dharma-guru. It turns out that after this incident, they turned up on another new channel and fabricated a whole set of allegations surrounding this matter. Here is what each one of them had to say:

Deepa Sharma:

* "He kicked me with his feet, only after which I slapped him. And my slap didn't even connect"

* "Before this interview began, he threatened me that if I don't toe his line, he will shame me ruthlessly."

Om ji maharaj:

* "Three days ago Dolly Bindra threatened me on live television that she will hire a hit-woman, who will attack me during a live TV proceeding and kill me. I was only acting in self-defense."

* "Dolly Bindra Salman Khan ki premika hain." [Seriously --- THIS --- is what he said.]

Shame on these people. I had seen this headline yesterday while scrolling through the news but did not look up the story. What is wrong with our so-called news channels and all these "dharma gurus" and shady astrologers etc who keep appearing with clockwork precision on these hindi "news" channels?😕🤔 Obviously, this is another sorry attempt to grab eyeballs and get their two minutes of fame. It is so scripted. Lock all of them in the BB house and never, ever let them out.

Which brings me to another con called Radhe Maa. Apparently, she and her supporters have sued Colors/BB producers for linking her name with the show to get publicity and defame her. 😆🤣

Continuing with the nostalgia,😊 news on DD...however drab it was, was still dignified.

And you know how it was with the brown paper - it had a smooth side and a rough side. One year my brother covered all the books, and he seemed not to care about which side of the brown paper faced outward. [I was so annoyed with him, because I always made sure to cover the books such that the smooth side was was always outward.] After that year, I never let him cover the books. 😆

lolll...that was my pet peeve too! 😆 Smooth side of the brown covering paper and labels aligned properly. I would go a step further and ensure that the flaps to the inside of the cover were the same size - top and bottom - and back and front...and the staples were neatly done.🤣 My siblings never understood what the fuss was all about. 😆

After I posted those strips from "Garbage Bin" yesterday, I chanced upon some more stuff from our growing up years. It was wonderful remembering those years😃...so here is some more.😆

My parents ensured that we always read magazines like these when we were really young and I guess that is what kindled interest in stories/books in me. Staple during the long summer holidays.

There was this mobile library on a bus run by Delhi Public Library and it used to visit our neighbourhood every Friday afternoon and I always waited for Fridays with much eagerness. It was interesting to borrow books from the bus and I remember getting Hindi novels by Mahashweta Devi, Premchand etc for my mom too.
