Jamy I do heard about neeli..and read so many yakshi stories of kottayam pushpanath..but y kerala is famous for all these adharvana mantras and black magics..since i am living near ur state..I found people choose kerala namboodiries to perform all those rituals.

Let me assure you, in Kerala, there are no Nampoothiris perform Black Magic. Nampoothiris are strictly Satwika followers belonging only to three orders - Yajurvedi, Rigvedi & Samavedi traditions. There are no families to my knowledge who live based on Atharva veda. And the problem in understanding is Kerala Nampoothiris belong to Brahmins of Vaidika Sampradaya. So they perform Vedic rituals. In fact only they are allowed to perform sacrifices mentioned in Vedas. No other Brahmins in Indica can perform vedic sacrifices because they have lost that tradition. Still, only Nampoothiris correctly perform Agnihotar rituals. In my knowledge, only Nampoothiris have performed Atiratra & Somayaga, the highest of all sacrifices mentioned in Vedas, in past 3000 years. Others might be mistaking those rituals as black magic because Vedic rituals are nowhere practised in any community of India. Also the other traditions are only loosely based on Vedas or have no valid root in Vedas themselves. Hence its very difficult for them to understand the highly complex Vedic traditions compared to their simple tradition.
Generally, Hindus can be broadly categorised under 3 traditions / Sampradaya - Vedika, Agama & Kashmiri. Once upon a time Vedika tradition was spread all over India. But with the advancement of Itihasas & Puranas, traditions began following them. And thus the Aagama tradition came into existance following the death of Buddha. But still Kerala sticked to the original traditions. Later when Kashmiri sampradaya took origin after Adi Shankara's death, Kerala preserved the same Vedic tradition unchanged.
Today, all south states except Kerala & Eastern states of India follow Agama tradition where as north and west India follow Kashmiri traditon. Kerala alone follows the ancient, original traditon of Vedas. But the rest of India is largely unaware of it. And they tend to misunderstand our tradition. If you closely observe the strictness of traditions, rituals and temples, this will be more clear. The more Satwika is a tradition, the more strict are temples to maintain the Satwik nature. In north, anyone can go inside the Garbha griha and do worship himself. But in South, do we ever do that? No. And here in Kerala, even if you are a Brahmin, you're not even allowed to touch the Poojari unless you take a holy bath in holy water scantified with Punyaha mantras from Rig Veda. Entering Garbha Griha is not possible even for Brahmins under normal circumstances.
I don't know what kind of rituals you are referring to as Black Magic. But I'm sure that none of Kerala Brahmins do practise that. Also Kerala Brahmins don't perform daily Poojas in Kali/Narasimha temples. They are strictly very Satwika people & most rituals of Kali/Narasimha includes Rajasa/Tamasa mantras of non-Vedic origin. They are generally performed in respective temples by Brahmins of other traditions, but never by a Nampoothiri Brahmin.
I guess that clears the fog. If you still have doubts, you are welcome to ask always.

Oh please put Tamil, last in the list Jamy😭it is supposed to be the farthest from Sanskrit though I agree the mixing which is now really unavoidable😭

As far as I remember, based on latest studies, Tamil and Malayalam took origin and grew together before 2-3 thousand years ago. Its only in last 1000 years Malayalam got Sanskritified completely. Still in its all basic lines, Malayalam shares closeness to Tamil than Telugu and very far from Kannada. Facts are unavoidable.

am not blaming them.. I can appreciate why they do it..

You expect the reverse to happen in Kerala. They're least bothered about Malayalam. They'll be happy if you ask in English so that they can speak Manglish.😆
(To Mallus around - I'm not offending Malayalis, but showing courage enough to accept the reality as ours is a language difficult to speak)

I agree Tamil is closest to Malayalam.. no doubts.. I wanted you to put it far from Sanskrit.. I guess Kannadigas are also now worried and trying to avoid sanskritized words.. any such thing in Malayalam? Tamilians, we are always worried 😆

The myth of Neeli is almost 1200 years old. And Kerala has the highest number of Kali temples in any Indian states. We are in so much love with her divine cosmic darkness. I'm least bothered about what others think about our traditions because I know they're totally unaware about it. Have no idea how other Malayalis feel.😃
