2nd century texts like Ashokavadana and some of the Buddisht texts have Ashoka's story in detail

apparently the Buddhist ones are biased. make him seem much more terrible prior to his transformation. I guess if you want a large empire, you are going to have to be quite terrible.

Not really Arya.

A good emperor is one who can win without raising his sword. Historians praise Akbar for making vassals through diplomacy. Akbar put an end to the jijyah thus pleaseing the Hindu population.The same has been said about Samadragupta who won against 12 kings from South India yet reinstated them to their throne after they agreed to remain loyal to the Gupta empire.

A war not only takes lives but also ruin the emperor financially. A good king should know how to balance it. Ashoka's rage against Kalinga was biased.It ruined him and the empire completely. Apparently that brought the end to the great Mauryan empire and made Magadha or rather India vulnerable to foreign invasions.

I see. I don't know much but I agree a good emperor should be able to win without raising his sword. There is no reason to destroy so many lives.

Ah! It got scrapped eh? I see. Plus people already suggested Ashish. But he played Chandragupta, Asoka's grandfather in Chandragupta Maurya.

honestly yhm was a nice show at the beginning with realistic characters but now it has become utter ridiculous with a messed up... ruhi is not at all shown... glorifying adultery

infidelity, assault, kidnapping, remarriage and crime seem to be used to boost viewership
