About the roast, Rani. I never cared to watch.I did read some of the jokes. they are crass and wannabe and also disrespectful at times. However, people made a hue and cry about it being po*n, blah blah blah, government action, etc etc. Which is ridiculous. If it's misogynist, call them out, and they can apologize for such crude jokes--or they can stand by it, whatever.
But FIR wise or the way some people were reacting was just ridiculous. But in India everyone and everything warrants FIRs.
Many of the industry people are hypocrites of the highest order. Some people keep talking about consent for jokes or something. I'm like, ehh, since when do you need consent to crack a joke on someone? making a joke is not the same as defamation or slander. Half of these hypocrites are online making jokes, retweeting, about politicians and other people without "consent" so what the hell are they talking about.
Industry are hypocrites. Kapil show is crass and crude and they don't care. Aamir Khan is a hypocrite. He has no issue with Baltakar line, BhaagDK Bose or Delhi Belly crudeness, but wants to chime in on vulgarity of AIB?
Elder Khan are hypocrites. SRK and Saif were at Filmfare making all kinds of jokes, and ones that were disrespectful. I remember the DD crack on Divya Dutta, which I think Saif was the one who said that line--but it was part of both SRK's and Saif's bit, obviously they were part of it and rehearsed. That's just one example.
Regarding AIB,I've liked a few of their vidoes like Alia Bhatt, some of their Bollywood spoofs etc. Though I have always preferred ViralFever - they were the one who made that Ekta spoof.đ
Anyway, AIB's roast I do agree is attempting to copy and mock American style humor and with some of the crass ones they don't come off always as funny but trying too hard.
