Thats one explaination, the other is...

What if I say... she became scared that he will die becoz he is choosing to stay with evil... what if I say it was a desperate effort to save her son...cuz Krishna said this war will kill all who would choose the side of adharm... even the poor Shlya wasnt spared who was tricked to join Dury.

And what I feel is she knew it well that karna wud not leave kourav's side...and she knew his fighting in his form cud not save his sons from doom... and she knew karna had a heart enough to shatter on coming to kno thar they r his brothers. ...

A last desperate attempt... to make him leave ... she thought that may be he would leave kaurava when he knows that he will be fighting against the Pandavas...his blood brothers. yeah it had the negative effect. She had to try.

Hmmm... u can say that... but may be she thought he would be spared... but like Krishna said... no one will be spared... so she had to. It was just that moment. What if He did give up Kauravas... it was a chance she had to take.
