It seems Sri Lankan Cuisine has lots of Coconut and coconut milk. Does you people use coconut oil for cooking also like Keralaites of India

Although my family based in Hyderabad, My parents native place is Konaseema of Andhra. There is abundance of coconut crop, hence lots of cuisine has coconut in it. But we don't use coconut oil for cooking.

At our house we do cook with coconut oil... Most of the Muslim community I must say cook with coconut oil and gee... A unrefined virgin coconut oil has a lot of medicinal properties... For sometimes we switched to refined oils as someone told my mother it is good for the heart and the food was horrible... as well as I later found out that there is nothing good about anything that is refined and all its natural enzymes stripped (other than Jigs stripped as that is all good)

But some also use Sesame seed oil... mainly Jaffan households use a lot of Sesame oil...

Have you ever eaten dhal cocked in coconut milk? Yum...
