Anjali must be knowing all these snake bite precautions and first aid well.😊
Snake bites are so common there.

I think the idea behind tying up the part is to prevent the blood from the affected site spreading to the rest of the body.


I think that tourniquet is tied to prevent the venom reaching the heart. It should not be tied too tightly.
If it is tied too tightly the blood supply to that injured part will be cut off.People don't know this and tie it too tightly and that will add further insult to the wound

They should take other precautions like Anjali's post said keeping the affected position below the level of heart.

But this sucking out the venom is not helpful at all.

Initially all these were follwed because it used to take a long time to reach nearest hospital

It is important to know whether the snake is poisonous or not. We shud remember the lessons in biology. How to recognise a poisonous snake.

Apparently poisonous snakes like cobras don't bite too deep - Non poisonous snakes bite deep.

These bites are just to protect themselves from assaults.

So they should not be killed but instead be taken and be left in a disatnt place.
