See that's the issue with trump..he speaks without thinking..
I don't blame him for recommending stringent measures for terrorists and for immigrants but you cannot close American borders (like European countries coz they have aassive refugee overload)
And then his comment about waterboarding..he callously throws around things he would want to do/change..
And abt Megyn paying him part of her earnings..man he is obnoxious and ridiculous
@media cashing in and giving more footage to trump..i had a similar discussion about Indian media regarding trivial issues being snow balled into controversy.. One of the example being amir khans comments on intolerance. I didn't agree with him but that was the end of it..but with people active on social media..24 hrs news channels which are hungry for trp (and don't have enough news to report every minute of the day) it was given far more footage than it deserved
Not the same but trump getting airtime is kinda similar and it helped him to spread hisbviews and polarise the situation
True
Quick question..does the govt there hold influence over media (decide what is reported or not) In India diff news channels have different levels of bias for different parties..like NDTV is blatantly pro congress and has predominant left ideology thanks to their reporters personal viewpoints..which is wrong..ur personal views aside, the reporting should be as unbiased as possible
Ideally, the government shouldn't but one never knows. U mentioned watching 13 Days on Cuban missile crisis. Media was about to print it but either Kennedy or Kenny (can't remember) reached out to the top guy in whose paper the story was being printed directly and asked them to hold off. Yes, we definitely have channels/network favoring one party over another here too. Fox network is predominantly known to favor Republicans.
Raymond Moore's comments were horrible to say the least..that he has stepped down is good but doesn't change the fact that he endorses the views he does (is he stupid enough to have actually had the audacity to say what he did..well apparently he is but still hard to believe that people think like this)
Didn't Sepp Blatter make remarks about women wearing tighter clothes to make women soccer more popular? Such people have not changed with times.
Wrt to equal pay..the only issue I think that is potwntially debatable is in grand slams where women play best of three as opposed to best of 5 by men..other than that..how does one use commercial appeal to decide pay..its going to be different for each tournament and wax and wane over time..like as of now male tennis has more competition and (maybe more appeal) but once fed, nadal retire then it will be kinda one sided..so then will they reduce the prize money coz appeal is down and increase the one for women tournament if it has more appeal.
I personally feel that women tennis tournaments have their own fan following and it might have started with BJ, whose name was oft mentioned during MN v CEL matches. If behind the scenes committee is instituting same policies for women tennis, it could be coz of maintaining a consistency for the same tournament. Either way, that in no way reflects on the women athletes.
Dunno if they are trying to distance themselves coz of MS's drug scandal but then some athletes from men's section have carried this stigma too.
This shows how sexism is so deeply rooted even in the most liberal of societies
