I am in the same boat as you where Hindi is concerned...

People keep telling me that Urdu is easy when you know Arabic so maybe after Hindi...

Western language means there is only one language I want to learn and that is Italian... 😉

I was taught to read Arabic and can still read it fine. When I was in university, I took two semesters in order to learn to speak and write. I can now write it properly but speaking/understanding is too difficult.

In our university, Hindi and Urdu were taught in one class - don't know how that worked, lol!!!

Lol - you should definitely learn Italian.
