It proves you should probably not read the books. I've read the books. So I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, That doesn't tally.' Because there was no way if they were sticking to the books that I should be in for that number of weeks. It seemed to me they must be writing me out. So I had a word with the line producer and said, "Can you corroborate that they're writing me out?" Then the showrunners rang me and told me, Your time is up in this series.'
Ian McElhinney, on the show death of Ser Barristan Selmy

So seems Barristan is definitely dead. Grey Worm might live though

Ive caught up to episode 3; I feel so far the show has been quite steady, there hasn't really been moments typical of GoT, the focus is on building-up stories, and gearing everyone for what's to come.
So im not going to rant on and on about the changes the show has taken/adapted, coz this has been done enough already, and honestly, its getting old. In any case, as a viewer I welcome such changes, again referring to the autonomy of the show as its own legit representation, moreover if certain characters create interest in the show through their strong performances, its only natural to bring them to the fore of events and adopt more of an original approach to move away from mundane predictability.
Both my brother and I are of the view that the books outweigh the tv show because they are somehow more deep, but there are occasions that the tv show matches up to that intensity. That being said we both enjoy the show equally to the books albeit through a different medium it creates its own mood and atmosphere through its powerful performances combined with the cinematic grandeur in which the world has grown into that comparative to other shows are of another level.

Funny its the villains who always have that presence which no matter how much the heroes try cannot create that same level of complexity. Seems like Roose and Ramsay are filling in the gap that Tywin and Joffrey left, though in their own Bolton-like way.
I hope to see more of the Boltons this season, theres more to them than meets the eye, the idea of the flayed man has many layers to it. Roose himself seems very secretive and Ramsay is managing to mask his true monstrosity behind a faade of charm as well.

Lancel looks better as a Sparrow with those short hair. Earlier he just looked like a girl dressed as a boy

Game Of Thrones' Star Eugene Simon Warns The Faith Militant' Uprising In King's Landing Is Just Beginning, Highlight Hollywood News

May 3, 2015 TV

Season 5 of "Game of Thrones" has already made it to episode 4 and next week we are squarely in the middle of the 10-episode season. But the violence Queen Cersei unleashed on Sunday's episode gives more power to the High Sparrow and his religious zealots, who seek to destroy what they see as greed, lust and sin in King's Landing. Joining in the uprising is the Queen's younger first cousin and former lover Lancel Lannister. Cersei is beginning her war against daughter-in-law Queen Margeary and her family House Tyrell. She sent Lord Mace Tyrell to Braavos to deal with The Iron Bank and immediately had his son Ser Loras Tyrell arrested for sodomy.

In what was a creepy and scary scene, we saw Lancel having a tattoo carved in his forehead. "It's a sign of a lifelong commitment to this particular sect of the Faith of the Seven. The fact that Lancel and so many of his fellow Sparrows are willing to go from being Sparrows to being Faith Militant shows how quickly the nature of this sect has become militarized. It's not something that bodes well for anyone in the Seven Kingdoms," the handsome actor admitted.

Queen Cersei Empowers The High Sparrow And His Faith Militant Group, But Will She Regret It? Helen Sloan/HBO

"The Sparrow Uprising is very much an uprising of the impoverished. When I was talking to the directorMark [Mylod] about episodes three and four, we agreed it was similar to a Communist uprising. These are people who have absolutely no regard for the status quo or authority, because they answer to a being that is higher than any sort of moral authority. They believe they are divinely driven, which is a frightening prospect."

Adding, "Lancel is very much a believer in the cause. He's probably an example of one of the purist types of the Faith Militant. Many of the Faith Militants are people who have been impoverished for so long that they feel like it is a way to improve their station. Lancel is far more ideological. This is a guy who has been amongst the richest and wealthiest families in the Seven Kingdoms, and his reasons for joining this cult are very much borne out of a great deal of pain and a sincere " but twisted " wish to rid the world of any of the people who caused him that pain, which is pretty much every major character in the books."

With no identity now tied to once the most powerful family (House Lannister) in Westeros, this kid is now very dangerous.

New clip of Game of Thrones S5E5 "Kill the Boy"; has the title of episode 9 been revealed?

A new preview clip from next Sunday's Game of Thrones episode "Kill the Boy" has turned up online after originally airing on the OSN network.

The preview features a Bolton family dinner. Spoilers, naturally!

In other news, it looks like the title of episode 9 may have been tucked into the coding of the HBO website already. A redditor posted today a link to the coding page for episode 9, which along with the usual casting/credits information includes a title.

The apparent title? "The Dance of Dragons." It's a slight twist on the title of the fifth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Dance with Dragons.

Click for spoilers.

Given what we know of Daenerys and the appearance of Drogon in Daznak's Pit, it makes sense they'd draw on a dragon reference for episode 9. Filming spoilers had led fans to believe that the Pit would be showing up in episode 9.

Assuming this is legit, what do you think of the title? It's always great to have a nice book reference in there.
