Eros International profit up 29.2% to Rs 199.6 Cr in FY14; Revenue up 6.1% YoY

Operational Highlights

During the quarter, Eros Now started featuring television content by featuring episodes from soaps & reality shows from Colors television channel like Balika Vadhu, Uttaran, Sasural Simar Ka, Beintehaa, Rangrasiya, Sanskaar (Season 2), Madhubala, Comedy Nights with Kapil and Khatron Ke Khiladi (Season 5), although strangely there is a really long window of 36 hours between the television premiere and the content being available on the site.

Eros Now also switched to a freemium model during the year through which it started offering some content on a free ad-supported model and others on a transactional or subscription basis.

The company also claims that its Eros Now YouTube channel is registering an average 50 million views per month and has registered a cumulative 1.9 billion video views until now.

Other Highlights

- Eros International released 69 films in FY14, of which 37 were Hindi titles, 30 were Tamil or Telugu titles and the remaining two titles were other regional languages. In comparison, the company had released 77 films in the previous year, of which 30 were Hindi, 44 were Tamil/Telugu and the remaining three titles were other regional languages.

- Of the 69 films released in FY14, 5 were high-budget films and 64 were medium & low budget movies.

- During the quarter Q4-FY14, 28 films were released of which two were high budget and 26 were medium & low budget movies.
