Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya Trailer Review : Alia-Varun Attempt A DDLJ But Siddharth Steals Their Thunder

The trailer ends with Varun Dhawan crying as he watches the last scene of the epic romantic film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey. If there was one line to describe the trailer of Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya, I would call it DDLJ Reversed'. The hero entered the trailer launch in a palki, the heroine made an entry with the pompous baarat and the posters see Alia Bhatt lifting Varun Dhawan in her arms. Bollywood is reversing its stereotypes despite maintaining the most cliched contours of a quintessential romantic recipe.

It is a fun film, atleast from what the trailer suggests and if one has to place their safest bet, they will agree that the Dharma banner always comes with the promise of an enthralling entertainer. Alia Bhatt has emerged as a more confident and fearless actress, doing a Kareena Kapoor quite literally. In scene from the trailer she emphasizes "Main shaadi karungi toh Kareena wala lehenga pehenke karungi, warna dulhe ko tata bye bye bol do." The mannerisms and demeanor are both undoubtedly Kareena's but Alia's innocence is quite the winsome quality here. Humpty Sharma's Kavya is quite Imtiaz Ali's Geet but with a more childlike glee to her.

Varun Dhawan is fascinating and if Main Tera Hero emphasized on his comic timing, this will topple it. The fluid chemistry between Alia and Varun works well for this film but that isn't the best part. It is actually the thunderous entry of the Videshi Hero-Villain Siddharth Shukla that takes the limelight off the two leading actors in the film. He is dashing, charismatic and has a catchy enigma in his personality. Going quite on theMade of Honor lines, Varun isn't very close to Patrick Mc Dreamy' Dempsey but Shukla does the Kevin McKidd perfectly.
