Ad 1: 30 seconds (AK Industries)

Day 1:

A man (middle management level) sitting in his cabin, picks up his mobile phone and calls his wife.

Wife (not shown, voice only): Hi Honey

Man (grinning from ear to ear): Babe I finally got that contract. Yoohoo!!!

Wife (excited): That's great news!!!

Man: I'm leaving now.

Man does a lil celebration jig with a glass filled with an opaque aerated drink in his hand.

Day 2:

Man in his cabin, calls his wife.

Wife: Hi Honey

Man (screaming in delight): Babe I'm promoted!!!

Wife (excited again): That's great news!!!

Man: I'm leaving now.

Man does a lil celebration jig (different from the previous jig) with a glass filled with the same opaque aerated drink in his hand.

A Lemonade bottle appears on screen with the baseline "With you in your celebration" with a male voice over "Lemonade. With you in your celebration". Screen freezes.

Ad 2: 30 seconds (KK Industries)

Woman at home watching her fav serial, calls her husband.

Man (not shown, voice only): Hi Darling

Wife (excited): Baby, Asad and Zoya are gonna expose Tannu.

Man (nonchalant): Really? Gimme details when I get home. I'll be late.

Wife: Come soon.

Woman does a lil jig with a glass filled with a clear liquid with lemon slices in her hand.

Day 2:

Woman watching her fav serial, calls her husband. (TV not shown)

Man: Hi Darling

Wife (crying): Baby, Tannu killed Asad and Zoya.

Man: Really? Gimme details when I get home. I'll be late.

Woman wipes her tears and does a bottoms up.

Day 3:

Woman sitting with a glass of Vodka and a bag of chips and peanuts watching a comedy serial and laughing non-stop. Phone rings.

Wife: Hi Baby

Husband: You didn't call me today.

Wife: I've moved on.

Woman disconnects and continues watching TV and laughing.

A Smirnoff bottle appears on screen with the baseline "A friend... indeed". Male voice over "Smirnoff. A friend (pause) indeed."

The backstory:

Ashwin Kukreja and Kartik Kukreja are brothers running separate businesses due to a property fight. Ashwin is the MD of AK Industries while Kartik is the MD of KK Industries. Both are competitors albeit indirectly (e.g. direct competition for Lemonade would be Coke/Pepsi but becoz of sibling rivalry Ashwin considers Kartik (Smirnoff) his competition and vice versa. Both never considered TV commercials to promote their products.

One day Ashwin decided to be one up and came out with a TV commercial for his product, Lemonade, an aerated drink.

Next day Kartik (the smarter one) decided to follow elder brother's footsteps and teach him a lesson. He came out with a TV commercial for his product, Smirnoff Vodka.

Result: A lot of housewives started drinking Smirnoff 😆.

The 2 ads are simple and focussed and the difference is obvious even though the products are totally different, similarity being both are liquids. Instead of me telling the difference, I want you to tell me 😃.

Your analysis is bang on about Lemonade and Smirnoff too. Would just like to add that mostly when they show alcohol they show friends (men) drinking together. Here I wanted to concentrate on the woman feeling a lil lonely albeit momentarily and wants someone to be there with her to share her excitement (day 1), sorrow (day 2) and excitement again (day 3). She finds a friend in Smirnoff.


Ppl let me tell you that the 2 ads are just for fun. I am not in any way suggesting that housewives start drinking Smirnoff everyday. Just mentioning lest someone takes me to court. Consider this as fine print 😆.

Actually its kind of funny, its suppose to get hotter but instead it had been raining on and off here, something weird is happening with the climate
