fateha means opening .. start ..

it is believed to be the first COMPLETE surah to be revealed on prophet peace be upon him ..


surah fateha is a benediction ..a dua ..a prayer that allah teaches ummah ..

it says in surah ..

" ehdenas sirat al mustaqeem "

Show us the right path "

this is the dua wch man asks fr at the beginning of quraan ..n in reply to it he gets the whole quraan to read afterwards ..wch means .. that the true path and guidance is - quran .. .

one more thing wch ths surah teaches us is --- the way to ask duas ..

in ths surah Allah has taught us how to pray to him ..

as we read it ..
in the beginning it says ..

Alhamdulillah hi rabil aalameen

... all praise to be Allah -the rab ( creator & sustainer ) of the worlds ..


Arhmaan araheem .. malik i yomideen ... the most merciful the most beneficent .. the malik ( lord ) of the day of judgement ...

iyya ka nabudu wa iyya ka nastaeen

we worship no one but You (Allah) we ask fr help frm no one but you (Allah)

~~~ until here .. in each verse of ths dua .. we are praising Allah .. means the way to say duas is to praise him frst to acknowledge his majesty ..n to say it verbally .. the frst important thing to ask dua is one shd whole heartey believe tht no one but allah has the power to grant the wishes ..& secondly one shd admit it verbally too .. ~~~

thn comes the actual dua ..

surah baqra ..

baqarah is an arabic word ..meaning Cow ..

before understanding ths surah n all the other surahs we shd kno tht quraan is a compilation of all the verses revealed on prophet peace be upon him time to time according the situation n need .. for the guidance of mankind .. therefore these surah were not revealed in a go ..nor was quraan revealed in a go .. but it was revealed verse by verse .. wch was complied and arranged later on after the complete revealation .. however , the order n compilation is in accordance to Allah s command ..

so surah baqarah has been named so because it has an incident on cow .. the whole surah is not on cow .. just a part of it .. it has various topics in it ..
