Barun's first film to release this Dec

Barun Sobti, the popular TV actor, who is best known for his role in the serial Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, will soon be seen on the big screen. He is making his film debut with Main Aur Mr Riight, which is expected to be released in India on Dec 13. The film stars Shenaz Treasurywala as the female lead, however it is Barun's debut that is the big talking point of the film.

In a recent interview with an Indian newspaper, Barun said he found the strain of shooting for both his film and TV serial the most challenging experience of the shoot. Which is what prompted him to opt out of the serial, much to the distress of his fans.

Barun is now concentrating on his film career and wants to do roles that appeal to him. He is averse to doing roles that require him to dance and play a lover boy. Instead he wants roles that are more intriguing and offer actors the chance to show their acting talent.

He said: "The criterion of dancing was true in the 1990s. Today, dancing is not an important element in films being made in India or the ones I want to be a part of. Personally, I know I'm not a good dancer. I'm not keen on doing films that require me to dance much anyway."

He said he believed that the perception of television actors in the Hindi film fraternity is changing, which is why more and more actors are switching mediums to appear on the big screen. He added that TV actors "shoot every day and that makes a difference to the project" and also to their acting skills.

Despite the big leap to films, Barun said he is not planning to give up television totally. "Shooting daily for serials is time consuming. But I've been approached by producers for weeklies, so let's see," he said.

The release of Main Aur Mr Riight has been delayed several times but it is now expected to hit the screens next month. But Barun is not too worried. "Film-making is a lengthy process. We were being ambitious to think we would be able to release early this year, but now we are coming soon. Post-production and other elements take time. These processes are not within our control," he said.
