Meet Raj Singh Puri. Widower, father, and suffering from a serious psychological problem which makes him talk to a painting of his dead wife, obviously he took Hum Paanch far too seriously.
Raj Singh Puri has three daughters, and his three daughters have the longest morning beauty regime in the world.

They wake up, roll around in bed for a while, in their satin pyjamas, on their satin bedsheets, with their satin quilts.

Then they get out of bed, get out of their satin pyjamas, cover themselves with their satin bed sheets, and dance for a while, possibly this is their workout time.

After this exhausting exercise, they take a shower, hence changing out of their satin bed sheets and covering themselves with towels instead. This is followed by a little more dancing, because really, if you've danced in the pyjamas and the bedsheets, the towels may feel left out.
Finally, eyeliner is applied and perfume is sprayed, and the sisters emerge, ready for the day. They've spent hours getting ready, and man, was it worth it!

Enter Ronit.

As fond of dancing as Raj's daughters, and also heir to the Malhotra empire. Raj works for Ronit's father, L.K Malhotra, and is more of a friend to him than his own daughters. Hello gender discrimination!
So anyway, here we are, half an hour into the movie, and the wedding bells are ringing.

Ronit and Raj together manage to arrange the marriage of the eldest daughter, Avantika, and off she goes to her bespectabled, never-a-hair-out-of-place, only-formal-clothes-wearing husband.
Following this, the second daughter, Sania, has a love marriage, against her father's wishes, joining herself to a boy whose mother looks like this.

She also enjoys periodically poking her bosom out at her son's father in law.
Sania's wedding is spent celebrating Raj's love for his dead wife, because at your sister's wedding, it's completely normal to ask a question that never struck you in all your twenty something years
And it's even more normal for the father to promptly plunge into a 5 minute song answering the question.
Sania's marriage starts falling apart soon after, and coincidentally, around the same time, Ronit and Isha, the youngest daughter, realize they love each other. This happens after Ronit saves Isha's life by first rescuing her from wild animals on an island, and then swimming back to shore, with a boat, in which the unconscious Isha lies, attached to his body- and here we were thinking only Obelix could do stuff like that.

Because of his second daughter's almost-broken marriage, and the fact that Ronit is rich, Raj refuses to accept their relationship, leaving Isha and Ronit feeling a little like this

Enter Monishka.
Rich.
Dances.
Loves Shahrukh Khan poses.
Isha agrees to give up Ronit, who agrees to get engaged to Monishka.
🤣
