I'd be the first to admit I have lived under the shadows of my illustrious sister. But then it would be hard not to if your sister is someone as towering a persona as Kajol. To be honest, we never had a sibling rivalry as such amongst us, for the simple reason that there is an age difference between the two of us.

And since the time I remember Kads has mothered me, has taken care of me. She has always been overtly protective of me, " whether it was my school grades, fights I picked up in school or when it came to boyfriends as I grew up. Can you imagine even today if I am dating a guy it's important for me that my sister approves of him! She's had this total control over my life.

When my sister started acting in films I was still in school, and coming from South Mumbai, studying with the high society kids who grew up on Hollywood films, it was difficult. I remember when I was in class V, the VI grade students in my school looked down upon Hindi films but when DDLJ released, there was this newfound respect for me in school.

As much as I look up to Kajol, I wouldn't want to be in her shoes " the way she started out her career, really slogging. She's worked hard for where she's gotten to, and I wouldn't want to go through that process. Neither of us has been really ambitious ever to make it to the number one slot in the industry, and Kajol proved that when she walked out on films and got married right at the top.

I have never been in the rat race myself and consciously so, because I have a life beyond films. People think I have had it easier in terms of getting films because of my sister and then Ajay. But that's not the case at all. I wouldn't have started with a film with fresh actors and directors like Ssshhh...if that was the case. And my sister or Ajay haven't pushed for me with the people they know although it's quite the way the industry functions.

Have I felt pressured because of my sister's benchmark? Yes of course. Any given day, I went on the sets I would see people looking at me like, Oh, you are Kajol's sister, you should do something spectacular'. I did feel burdened by it at one point, but later I leant to be able to live with it.

I haven't had as many hits as she has. If I would start thinking why am I not as successful as my sister, or why I can't be her, I'd probably go into deep depression.

Will I ever achieve all that my sister has? Probably not. But people might realise some day, that maybe I have goals of my own, which might have been very different from my sister's. Will I ever grow out of my sister's shadows? Probably not. But ask me if I am comfortable under my sister's shadow. I am.
