Each time I visit Bhopal, it becomes prettier
I belong to a traditional Rajput family in Indore and I've spent all my childhood there. My association with MP doesn't end there, as I got married in a family based in Bhopal. So, I was not just born in MP, it is also my sasural. Staying in Mumbai and working there, in no way, detaches me from this lovely state. And every time I come to Bhopal, it looks prettier than my previous visit. It seems like the administration is working very hard on its beautification, and every time I see new landmarks and structures adorning the city. I also love the fact that Bhopal is culturally so active. The idea of having a tribal museum is novel and unique. So many film and theatre festivals are organized here, providing a platform to all kinds of talent. And the city is also benefitting from it. Bhopalites get to learn so much about the cultures and traditions of other states through these festivals.

Working hours in TV soaps these days are inhuman
I have worked in both, films and TV serials. But the work pattern is so different. And now, things have changed drastically in the television industry. Everything has been commercialized and there is a lot of money involved, which has taken a toll on actors and everyone associated with the industry. In films, we have a more relaxed schedule, compared to television. The working hours in TV soaps are inhuman. Many a time, we have to work round the clock to meet deadlines. I had earlier done weekly shows, where the work pressure was not extreme. But with my current show, Bani - Ishq Da Kalma, which is a daily soap, I have realized TV actors work so hard. The work pressure has increased manifolds.

Acting was a coincidence
I had never thought of getting into films. It was all a coincidence that I got an offer to act in a TV show. It so happened that my husband was posted in Mumbai and there, one of our family friends, director Rakesh Chowdhary, invited us to a get-together. He offered me the TV show Mujrim Hazir, which was quite popular then. I consider myself lucky that in my very first serial I got a chance to work with great actors like Utpal Dutt, Nutan, Rita Bhaduri and Rajiv Verma. It was after working with them, that I realized that acting is such a beautiful career. One gets a chance to explore oneself. It's very creative and interesting. One gets a chance to meet and interact with so many people. But I have been a very reluctant actor. I work according to my convenience, jab man hota hai tabhi kaam karti hoon, or I take a break and spend my time with my daughters. We cook together and travel a lot.
