just read akshay dogra's interview. now if indeed he said all that stuff, must say i noticed something i couldn't agree with, didn't like. when speaking of akash in ipk, he said the experience was memorable because of the people he met, barun's name on top of lis. that's great.

but on the lack of development of his character he seemed to hold the audience responsible.

a trying to be diplomatic: no one can be blamed... when a lead pair gets really popular, all people want to see is that jodi, it doesn't matter to them what happens to the brothers sisters other characters.

that's not how i remember it. many of us were upset about the parallel characters and stories not being developed. the destroying of the akash payal love story, the toying with it, it all bothered us. the disappearance of mamaji, the unresolved case of babuji, the hurried departure of shyam... we were unhappy about it all.

and he says himself even in his current show the lead pair is the magnet, yet his character gets to grow. i wish being diplomatic wouldn't translate to not caring about your audience. if one doesn't wish to upset production houses, that's fine. in which case best not to talk about such things at all.

my thoughts. sorry, i am a bit irked. just one of those things.

I agree with you Indi. Somehow I too felt that Akshay was blaming the audience for the non-growth in the character but it is actually the production house that should be blamed for this. Because as far as I remember the TRPs for IPK were the highest when everyone was included in the show and during the payash sangeet and mehendi ceremony. It is like after SPA happened, the PH and the channel had amnesia and they forgot to grow all the side characters and just gave importance to leads which ultimately burned Barun and Sanaya out. Who the hell told the PH not to include good stories about Akash-Payal around the kidnapping phase. Hell it was 6 weeks long and all the PH got was bubbly track for Payash which made the TRPs go down. I think if the PH had given good meaningful tracks to Akash and Payal after marriage no one would have objected to them occupying the screen space. I always felt that Akash would be the one who would be close to the Gupta family after marriage but nope there was no one scene of Akash-Payal with Gupta family after marriage. The fault lies in the PH for not developing the characters correctly and not in the audience who rejected the stupid storylines. The audience never rejected Akash, Payal, Mamaji or Anjali. It is the PH which failed to do justice to them.

good to see you. long time. every word you write about the post marriage aimlessness is so true. and really dumping akash and payal like yhat, too bad. will see the bhph retro thingie. the more i see scenes of bhph the more the value of a happy work environment with trust all around becomes clear.

Agree with you IndiDi. I can never forgive this PH for dumping off main characters like akash and payal like that after marriage. There was not even one scene of Akash - Khushi or Khushi - Payal during the kidnapping phase and that was bloody long 6 weeks. Couldn't the creatives create some scenes for the people so that their growth is also seen. Nope they just dumped everything off and went on to destruct all the good things due to which this serial became so popular in the first place. Anjali became extra dumb and then Anjali's character was made a caricature and she was neither here nor there.

Coming to Baat Hamari the serial had a good run - around 300 episodes or so about 9 months old. But the atmosphere was really good and I always see Ankita and Barun reminisce about the environment with good memories. The trust and happy work environment with the channel and the PH was really good it seems and that was majorly missing with 4Lions and SP. Thank god Sanaya is coming in Sony and I do hope none of the IPK actors ever work with 4Lions on any of their new shows. The PH doesn't deserve these good actors. Period. Bas bol diya.

then that "guy" gets down the chopper on the Historic day -- and I am like bada SRK jaisa tashan maar ke entry maari to hai -- though the "guy" is surprisingly looking too good also -- but as per norms, kuch to flaw hoga -- let him open his mouth (repeating myself just realised -- had told this in the IPK anniv thread too😆) - dialogue delivery will be sloppish -- BUT...the moment he uttered the first line - I was floored and grounded -- and since then have been flat only -- and from the day that "guy" became Arnav Singh Raizada for ever and hameshaa...

and in that same week -- went to YT and ended up watching all the BHPH epis back to back in next two days -- and since then have watched them mutiple times ---- I love to bits their cute Love scenes -- he had an irresistible charm as Shravan -- as ASR he was just a SEXY MONSTER 🤣
