Anyway why people feel the urge to rape, molest, abuse is beyond me..I don't understand the psychology behind it but I'm assuming some people actually have a mental problem while others jus give into their phacked up urges.

I've seen pedophila and molestation happen within my best friends family and I can say there is a stigma that exists with bringing it to the families attention. Often in our cultures the case is that men get away with anything and everything. I don't know when this will end but not for another few generations. Women and girls are made to fear coming forward at the risk of being stoned to death in some cultures.

I can't say why is happens or what drives a person, but I can say its a fairly common occurrence in many different cultures from the subcontinent. The biggest thing that needs to change IMO is women's and children rights and he mentality of the people...yes laws exist in theory but they are far from being practices widespread.

They question isn't why do people do this...question is why is he victim made to suffer, that too by family

I think it has to do with family image which becomes secondary to human feelings. I've seen so many pedophilia activities during my time in the West Indies and I've witnessed the way men disrespect women based on the way they dress. It is so disgusting that they believe it's their God given right to control women and girls.

This!

A lot of the sexual violence in the sub-continent stems from the fact that we continue to stay as a repressed society when it comes to sex. Speaking about sex is taboo, doing it is a taboo. We are told to abstain until one is married. Some are able to control their urge whereas others arent. We are all humans, there is nothing wrong in having sexual urges. But since open relations, premarital sex, flings, one night stands are looked down upon in India it leads to such sexual abuse.

@NB
i respectfully disagree

having premarital sex doesnt mean that the sexual desire of those insane people will get fulfilled...
otherwise sexual abuse would have been the problem of only southasian and gulf and some other countries...
but it is prevalent in europe also
cant say even more than india coz i hv no figures to prove...but it does exist in a great magnitude
the problem is upbringing
boys are brought up with a mind set that they dont need to be taught morals as they are the boys
its only a girl who should be taken care of coz she has to get married and move to another house
that's what i have seen in pakistan at least
a boys gathering is not monitored
but a girls has to explain a lot about whom she is meeting and why and at what time she will be at home
a boy is not questioned for any mistake...actually no one cares...and that leads to the development of a criminal
if this discrimination gets eradicated from our world...there woud be no such mishaps...just my POV

I don't believe that of the pre-marital sex is a reason for this violence and homosexuality.
Countries like US which has a very open attitude toward sex , suffer from these sexual abuses, maybe more than than any other country.

Like I said to Swati she is nothing like a Canuck, I see none of the qualities of a Canuck in her. Does not behave like a 29 year old nor someone who is going to med school.

She said she's 16. On top of that, she talks like she's 10. I rememebr once she told me how she soes so well and makes her parents proud..what 29 yr old still says theyre schoolwork makes the rents proud. i don't buy any of her facts about herself or the show.

i meant to say its one of the reasons. discussions on sex are a taboo.

In india as per official figures 95% of sexual abuse goes unreported so it would be unfair to compare the crime rates say with US or UK.
