Found this while browsing youtube videos...

"The language, the gallantry and the"You have bewitched me body and soul" it makes you wish for those times when "I love you babe"and"OMG you're sexy" were not common terms of affection.

I love and hate Jane Austen so much.Love? for the works, hate her because reading the novels and also watching movies based on them made me wish for a man like that. I blame her for my high expectations of men.For being ridiculed in my circle of friends as a big dreamer.

i think the first thing that grabbed me was the language...never read something like that before...the way they talked enchanted me...it was so polite...i remember i tried talking like that to my bro and he looked at me like i've gone crazy😆
.then the little things that austen did to show the personality of the characters...like first chapter itself made it clear Mrs Bennet was a drama queen...my poor nerves this and that😆...and Mr Bennet's nonchalant response to that...the little digs that he made and looked at lizzy to see if she enjoyed it...

p.s...will update here later...got to go now...sorry

PnP and me

I was a book addict since forever :D But my genre was mostly (and still is ) action adventure mystery types . My 9th std English teacher was aware of my reading habit and wanted me to expand my horizons. Being very cheeky and knowing my love for mysteries, she told me half of the story and left it at that. Just to find out the end, i read her copy of PnP. And man was I hooked from the first line!

I discovered that I have a slight thing for dry wit after reading the very first line of the book!

'It is a truthuniversallyacknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.'

I mean how many first lines from books does one remember? But I am pretty sure that all PnP readers, lovers and non lovers combined, will remember this particular line! But what was eerie was how well I could relate to the character Lizzy. The reason I loved this book was more because of the realist flaws of the characters than their strong point. Being raised in a bollywood culture , where the male and female leads can sing, dance, fight, be romantic, be good at sports, is confident , but humble, sweet, but sexy ...Mr. Darcy and Lizzy were a refreshing change!

I think the scene where I fell in love with both characters is the one where Lizzy is having a tour of Pemberley and the housekeep describes Mr Darcy in afavorablelight. The metamorphosis that Lizzy's thoughts undergo after looking at Mr. Darcy through the eyes of his housekeeper was so simple but so effective! Her capacity to look at a person from another POV and the acceptance of her prejudice and His defense of his pride were beautifully portrayed.

I could go on, but I think this is enough for the time being ...
