Five years after the seventh and final book in her record-breaking Harry Potter series, Rowling has signed a deal with a new publisher, the British and U.S. divisions of Little, Brown.

No details — including title, subject matter or release date — of the new book were revealed, although that's promised later this year.

Rowling, in a statement, said, "Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world.

"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."

The Harry Potter series, published between 1997 and 2007, has sold more than 450 million copies worldwide, been translated into 74 languages, and has been turned into eight blockbuster films.

Rowling also wrote small volumes to aid children's charities. Both appear as titles of Harry's schoolbooks within the series: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through The Ages (2001), and The Tales of Beedle the Bard (2008).

Kyle Good, a spokeswoman for Scholastic, which published the Harry Potter books in theUSA, said, "Scholastic is J.K. Rowling's U.S. publisher of children's books, and we only publish for children."
