It is hard to believe that there are still folks out there who still deny the existence of the Holocaust and the extermination of 6 million Jews. These Holocaust deniers cannot refute the huge amount of evidence that still exists and in many cases is well preserved. One place that is the best place for these foolish deniers is the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. I hope to go some day and pay my respects.
On this special day when we pay our respects to the victims of the tragedy we must remember that the world intervened too late for many of the victims. After the small number of Jews who were liberated, every one hoped that this horrible event would never repeat itself. Unfortunately history did repeat itself in Bosnia where thousands of Moslems were exterminated and tortured until the world once again intervened under the leadership of then President Clinton and NATO. Which led to the Dayton Peace Accords that ended this Holocaust and ended the Bosnian-Serb war.
It would also behoove us to remember individuals like Oskar Schindler who was a member of the Nazi Party at the time but in secret saved more than a 1000 Jews through his ammunition factory. On whom was based the very poignant movie called Shindler's List. It won the Best Picture Oscar and rightfully so.
There is also the case of the Iranian diplomat named Abdol-Hossein Sardari Qajar who was stationed in Vichy, France during WWII who saved 1000s of Iranian Jews and non-Iranian Jews from the Holocaust by issuing them blank Persian passports and getting them out of France and back to Iran.
There are many unspoken and unknown heroes of this part of world history that must never be forgotten.
As the saying for 9-11 victims goes "
We shall never forget".
