Lol yeah these West ke log have this perception ke hum sab illiterate log hain yahan pe. Rehne ka dhang nahi hai humain. Like Sarah said.. Bilkul sahi describe kiya hai the perceptions, these people have.

My cousin went to London last year, and she is one the best students there.. People were so shocked ke Pakistani se ai hui hai, aur itni achi English bol leti hai aur itna acha parh leti hai! 😳 When I see her friends posting on fb.. Their English is worse than ours. All those chat speaks and all.. and infact I've noticed meri cousin ki khud ki English writing kharab hogai hai. Yahan rehti thi tou dhang ka type karti thi.. ab stupid slangs aur short forms aur pata nahi kya kya use karti rehti hai. Bimbo kahi ki.. 😆

Ahhh Don2 releases today! I'm going to watch it in the theatre! So exciteddd! 😃 Just hope the movie is good.. I have quite a lot of expectations.. SRK looks awesome, trailers are damn good, I loved Don remake, Kunal Kapoor.. So many plus points.. Let's hope it is good!

@ Amy - Tell me about the F word! Just today I read a Sonam Kapoor interview. She said that she used the F word generously in Players because her character was that of a young and modern girl (or something along that line). In her own words, it would have been 'unrealistic' for such a character to refrain from using the F word.

@ Mash - LMAO at someone always telling her that 'yahan' bhi 'yeh sab' hota hai. 🤣 Chalo non-desi people ka toh phir bhi samajh mein aata hai but your aunt has only been living in the US for three years ... itna surprise kyon express kar rahi hain with regards to the nation where she was raised. It must be annoying for you guys when people go abroad for like two seconds and come back to act all condescending and snobbish, lol. 😆

@ Nimrah - I'm still contemplating. Aaj theater mein Don dekhoon ya nahin? I'm not a SRK fan, I don't like PC and I can't stand the "affair" nautanki. That aside, I am intrigued by the movie.

And word about 2-3 saal ke gaye huay log act all snobby when they return. Mere relatives aur un ke bacche, they shifted when their kids had completed their 10th standard here.. And wahan jaa ke, aik saal main they forgot Urdu. Sahi bolte nahi hain aur parhni tou aati hi nahi. I mean W*F! You have been studying Urdu since bachpan, how can you just forget it in ONE year!? 😳

Oh but Sarah, Don is getting awesome reviews! 😲 I can ignore my hatred for PC and this whole affair nautanki just for SRK's sake.. But then you don't have that motivation either.. 😆 Soch ke jaana, let's hope it doesn't turn out to be another Rockstar for you! 😆 I've asked my brother to book tickets for 26th.

Ummm so does being "young and modern" equal to using profanities like the F-word and "Damn" and all those slangs as well as crappy text message abbreviated English?😳
Then, you and I are so back-in-the-day non-modern and un-cool people because we don't use those profanities and abbreviations, right?😳

DANG!😲 This is what the "youth" in those parts of the world think is cool and modern and Western!?
Have they gone to our schools and seen what the real deal is?!
What they think is "cool" and "modern" is crass and vulgar in reality.

LOL, your relatives' kids forgot Urdu in a year? Kya drama hai yaar. Did anyone actually buy their act? So fake! Not to stereotype them or anything but they sound like those people who feel English is superior to Urdu and pretending to forget your own language somehow Westernizes you, hence making you more modern and cool. Some folks that I know (who moved here in their 20's) have been watching Hindi movies all their lives lekin they act like they can't pronounce the actors' name the right way. Shahrukh becomes 'Shuh-rook' and Aamir becomes 'Uh-meer' ... like please. Aik thappad lagao toh naam seedhe tareekey se bolenge. :P

You don't just forget your language like that. 😆
Besides, none of the languages are "superior" to any other. All that languages are means of communication, expressing views, thoughts and feelings.
Here people think you're smarter if you are well versed in more than just plain old one language...even when you look for jobs and such, being bi-lingual and such looks good and you can even put that on your resume.
