btw LadyM, you actually liked that RP hug scene from BALH?? I found it quite blahh...this entire Australian honeymoon has been very poorly conceived and shot and not a SINGLE scene has been memorable so far.

It's a brillianttt scene...it's like every word from the book comes to life...I recently read this scene in the book again and this scene is pretty much the exact depiction you picture in your head...I love Darcy's agitation in the beginning...the way he walks in, all restless, pacing around the room...there is so much emotion in his eyes each time he turns and looks at her and the way their gazes hold for a bit...Lizzie is curious, confused about his behavior even as she pretends indifference while watching his pacing back and forth and not saying anything...and then the way he finally moves forward in a rush and the words tumble out...'in vain I have struggled, it will not do...you must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you'...I love how that 'love you' in the end is such a struggle for him to say still😆...and Lizzie is staring at him in total shock until he rushes ahead with the, 'I know you are beneath my social standing and this is against my better judgement' spiel...and the way her mouth tightens in anger there as he goes on...truly has to be the most unique proposal in the history of literature😆...I love the way CF enacted that latter portion of the speech too...where he talks of the passion he feels for her and asks her to put him out of his misery and be his wife😆...it's like there are SO many emotions in the scene...the ones he feels, the ones he battles, the ones he can't help but express no matter how much he may want to hold back based on his "judgement'😆...and the way Lizzie refuses him...such brilliant dialogues for both characters...you truly feel like you are watching POWERFUL characters...and the actors are so superb together...every nuance perfectly executed...every emotion of the characters plays across their face. There is so much in this scene that seriously it's hard for me to sum up.

Re: CT show...yeah I watched it today too...Jalebi has all the brain power of a tweety bird...2 seconds mein memory loss aur batti gul😆...but ehhh...not like I expect any sense from this show anyways...it was an amusing enough epi...I liked the scene in yesterday's epi when CT-Jalebi meet up to solve the Payal-Akash issue and Jalebi gets so excited over a free BISKUT😆

Anu - I cannot tell you how much Elizabeth's character has influenced my behavior in my teenage years. Everytime I used to feel like an embarrassed or awkward teen over-reacting to petty issues, I used to think to myself, what would Elizabeth do if she were here right now? I was that obsessed with the book!

And this mini-series truly brought the book to life... this scene particularly had Elizabeth giving back to a man of Darcy's station as good as she got! Although she was in a disadvantaged situation - being financial insecure, having poor relations, no brother to support after her father's death - she didn't give up a self-respect to snare a husband like Charlotte did. And THAT is exactly what attracted a strong-headed guy like Darcy to her. In those times with Elizabeth's financial background, it was common to be only marriage minded as women didn't have the means or the liberty to be independent. Even then she held on to her own - what a remarkable scene! And the ultimate dialogue of the entire banter: "You are mistaken if you suppose that your mode of declaration affected me in any other way as it only spared me the concern I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more gentleman-like manner". Although she breaks down later after he leaves, she thought it secretly gratifying to have unconsciously inspired such a strong affection ... Indeed what a unique proposal scene! 😆

No ... I just liked the siggy and I wanted something since it is one of the serials I kinda watch these days. I was too lazy to hunt for more ... the entire HM sequence is nothing but a sponsored tourism of Australia! WORD on not a single scene being memorable so far. The way Priya and Ram bicker and behave with each other makes me think of awkward teenagers who over react to any situation.

Mash - I read your argument about Ram and Priya not sleeping with each other few pages ago. I hear you. I think it was ridiculous. They are behaving as if arranged marriages do not happen in India. Agree they married out of compulsion, but it is not as if they hate each other. They seem to be enjoying each other's company, holding hands, eye-locks etc ... toh phir why are they making SUCH a big deal about sleeping with each other. Aisa toh nahin hota ki, pyaar jab tak develop na ho partners behave like brother and sister. 😕

Why are there elaborate discussions in CT show forum on CT dude's accent?!😳 and ummm i don't get why desi celebs (telly or bolly) are so obsessed with American accent. Trust me when I say that American accent is not the best accent. A good accent is your OWN accent...not something you try to ape to sound cool.
I have seen people who have lived for years and years in the States and still retain the Indian accent and there are younger generation kids who acquire American accent much easily and quickly because they go to school here and stuff. An accent never reflects how educated or knowledgeable one is...it just merely reflects where you come from.😊

Very well said, Amy👏

I think if we look at it based on social psychology...in India, since ages there is this fascination with America, NRIs...anything from abroad...kids grow up on American shows on cable TV and that automatically becomes "cool" to them...maybe that's why they are fascinated by the accent.

I find it amusing that some ppl only stay in the U.S. for like 2 years and develop a permanent "accent" like this Sobti guy😆...and I've lived here for nearly 10 years and I don't have the accent😆...I think as long as you express yourself clearly, an accent doesn't matter...it doesn't DEFINE you.

Anyways, fangirls will find the dumbest of reasons to drool over a guy😆.

When I'm in my phangurl mood, I'll drool over a guy's VOICE...not really his ACCENT😕😆...I think a voice is where attraction can really stem from...this Sobti guy doesn't have good diction and throw in his voice...accent gaya tel lene meri bala se😆

Exactly Anu! Voice is something I consider to be a part of someone's so called "X-factor" if you may...not accent. There are people with the strongest of indian accent or italian accent or french or even chinese accent, yet they are well respected and looked upon because they are knowledgeable in their own fields. This also includes the entertainment industry. How many times have we seen different accent folks win an Academy award and give the acceptance speech in their own accent no matter how strange or un-American/Un-British it may sound?!

@CT dude--- He does NOT have American accent ..i know that for sure. He might have slight different accent than his Indian counterparts...but that accent is still Indian and there's nothing wrong in it. As you said, it is the voice and the diction that should matter most.

I think that Indian accent is very clear and the pronunciation of words is correct as compared some of the pronunciations in American accent. Besides, I believe that it is COOLER if you know more languages (i.e. being bi/tri/quadra-lingual) than knowing different accents.

LOL yes, CT does not have an American accent...he just tries to roll his 'r's' sometimes in a way that maybe some ppl mistake for that accent...lol...it's actually a weird hybrid sort of accent.

I think the only thing that can be attractive in an accent is POLISH...and that can be there in any accent like you said...an Indian, Italian whatever...although I have to say I'm yet to hear a polished CHINESE accent...lol...it's usually very tough for me to comprehend my chinese professors.

I like the African accent actually...especially those urbane, sophisticated African ppl...that's an amazing accent because they sound very polished when they speak...

Waise toh a lot of these accents are variants of the British accent cuz so many of these places were British colonies...including the Indian accent.

Maybe the American accent is attractive to anyone wanting to break away from a British influenced accent...lol
