@ Anu - OMG, that was exactly how I felt about ZNMD too. It's like you just spoke my mind!

The promos didn't excite me either - I was expecting it to be another trashy and wannabe-ish movie because lord knows we have so many of them today. It was such a relief to discover that it was a different film. And I'm glad they didn't try to make it look like a DCH remake/sequel.

LOL at what you wrote about adventure sport documentaries. It was almost like watching the Discovery channel in the theater. 😆

Regarding Challo Dilli ... I watched the first half of it last week but haven't had the time to finish the whole thing yet. From what I saw, it seemed like a nice movie. Bollywood rarely focuses on depicting platonic relationships between men and women who meet as strangers. Everyone just falls in love by the end of their misadventures.

Yeah it deffo wasn't a DCH level ki movie...but I guess I'd say that both the Akhtar siblings have this SENSITIVITY to their movies that comes through...they aren't wannabe-ish...the movie wasn't really overtly preachy...and not a masterpiece either...but it makes you smile, makes you muse in some ways...and that makes for a pleasant movie-going experience...the friendships were shown in a genuine manner and that was the crux of the movie I felt...

Challo Dilli is nice...it feels a bit slow in the half in some bits but overall...especially by the end...I thought it was a sweet movie.

@ bold - Precisely. It isn't path breaking cinema; nor is it in-your-face type of preachy. It's just a feel good movie that makes you enjoy the 2.5 hours you spent on it.

Yep, I've noticed that the Akhtar siblings add a sensitive touch to their movies. They like keeping their characters youthful and yet somewhat believable at the same time. A few far-fetched aspects aside, you can relate to them. Most of the other "youth" movies that Bollywood churns out these days just come across as remakes of High School Musical / Gosspi Girl / One Tree Hill / etc. Half the time I find myself wondering, in what universe do the average urban desi people behave like this? 😆

So, verdict on ZNMD is more favourable than not? Good, good. Am planning on watching it soon.

If it's possible, I think I am very much unlooking forward to BALH today...I shudder to think what we might have in store for us this week, esp. since the wedding is not until next week.

Any idea when Parichay is actually starting?

So over the weekend I caught up with Comic Con vids on YT, and can I just say I love Joss Whedon?? He spent over an hour answering all his fans questions on panel, and each one was snarky/snappy and self-deprecatingly humorous. The man is a genius...and consider this: every show he has ever produced for TV, barring Angel and Buffy, has been a commercial failure. Cult-gathering, yes, but not TRP raising. And yet his fans are legion, and loyal. Not only that...despite his many failures, networks and producers still want to work with him, still give him a chance because they know that despite it all he can gather the troops - excellent actors line up to work with him, and his fans cheer him on from the sidelines. He's like the Pied Piper...people will follow him anywhere. Am looking forward to The Avengers and Dr Horrible 2. More Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris (or Midas, as I like to call him) is only ever a good thing.

I also watched the Ringer panel at CC and now I am super excited for the show. Before it was a sort of meh...I'll watch it for SMG...kind of thing, but hearing from the amazing actors - Ioan Gruffud!! - I am waiting to see what this show will be like. I hope it lives up.

And Nikita, yay! GG - if you're around and see this, where are you with season 1?? Don't you just love it?? I watched the Hollywood Reporter segment with all the top women in TV - SMG, Maggie Q, Anna Torv et al...and I am so glad that finally we are seeing a lot more kickass females who actually have a role to play rather than being eye candy. Even though I'm not a massive fan of Anna Torv (mostly I think she's wooden, except - weirdly - when she's playing Fauxlivia; but even so, Fringe would not be the same without her).

Eee - can't wait till September when all these shows start back up! Although, wow, can you believe it's August already??!!

Hey everyone! happy Monday :)

Gosh darn it! why does Pottermore open it's registration while i'm asleep and then closes it for the say when i wake up?!why?!

anyhow, so what is the story behind this new movie, Mausam? Just the saw the promos posted on IF. Hmmm so it's a love story...that goes beyond love. and umm the leads were to be together by destiny but the "world" separated them? Now that just sounds like most typical indian movies...what is the "different" thing here?
btw Sonam looks pretty nice as usual and that song "Rabba" sounds nice. Hopefully, this will be like one of them signature Bollywood movies ...love story-- that's totally fine...but hopefully it will be Indian rather than those wanna-be-ish love story movies we see currently from Bollywood.

@Vasu---- after i watched comic con vids on "The Ringer" and after watching the new trailer, I'm sorta looking forward to it as well. May be this show might be a way for the CW to finally graduate from high school teeny bopper shows like 90210 and GG.😆
Hart of Dixie doesn't look as good as The Ringer...eh.

Hey Amy!

Oh yeah, I forgot - Pottermore is doing its early registrations right? Ah...too much competition 😆 I'll wait for October...

Yes, Hart of Dixie looks like a mega-cliche, but I guess I will still check it out for a few weeks just because of Rachel Bilson. Recently I've been thinking I want to rewatch The OC for her and Seth...😆

RE: Ringer - I read that it was initially supposed to be on CBS but they found that they could not justify a place for it on their network, as maybe it would not appeal to their demographics...and then the CW picked it up. The only thing that worries me is that ABC withdrew from the project after it left CBS, which means that we might have to contend with a smaller CW-sized budget which could reduce the production values. But in a way it's like a homecoming for SMG - CW was the network made from the WB and UPN - both of which were the homes of Buffy.

What really interested me was that SMG - as Bridget & Siobhan - seems to be practically the only female on that set...I mean, they have the stepdaughter and the best friend characters as well...but they are hardly "lead" material. So in terms of female power, it's SMG's show all the way (even more since she is Exec Producer as well). It will be very interesting to see how she plays Bridget, Siobhan and Bridget-as-Siobhan all within the confines of the episodic story. Certainly no lesser actress could have done it.

@OC--- yeah i have "favorited" Seth-Summer scenes on YT...lol i was bored over the weekend and so i re-watched Seth-Summer moments. 😆 Can you believe it that Rachel is almost 30 now?! She still looks like she's 22 to me!
and ummm where the heck is Adam Brody?! Haven't seen him since that movie he did with Meg Ryan..."in the land of women" or something.

@SMG--- yeah this is definitely her show...the story revolves around her two characters. I think she said in one of her comic con interviews that the reason she took this show is because of the characters she will be playing. I mean if you look from an actor's point of view, this seems like an interesting show...playing two characters...both of whom are totally flawed, both have mystery surrounding them and then to switch from one to another...now that just sounds confusing but hell of a lot interesting to play, doesn't it!?
I can't wait till the premiere now!
@CW being low budget---well at least it's not on abc or nbc...those channels axe their shows quite often. CW shows tend to garner rather "younger" audience usually because of the shows it has been airing...but may be this show might change it. They are promoting it quite a lot...way more than "Hart of dixie" and "the secret circle."

LOL, she really looks like a kid...her skin is flawless! I guess she'll never need Botox! 😆

Absolutely - it's incredibly fascinating...almost like she's schizophrenic 😆 it sounds confusing on paper, but I think with good acting we shouldn't have any problems differentiating between the characters. I mean, even Anna Torv on Fringe who, as I say, is quite wooden in many respects, plays two characters (well, she plays the same character in different universes 😆)...it amazes me actually - I was watching her on the Fringe panel and for a lot of the time I forget that Anna plays both Olivia and Fauxlivia...the characters are played so differently that despite their physical similarities, I see them as two people. And SMG is definitely a better actress than Anna, so I don't have any concerns over that.

I can't wait till the premiere now! Me too! Thank goodness it's one of the early ones, it'll give us a chance to really sink into it without distractions.

That's true - and I've seen (even though I don't get to watch CW here) that they have been promoting Nikita quite a lot as well...so it looks like they are trying to move away from their teeny-bopper image and get into some real content. I guess with the departure of Dawn Ostroff things are looking up for the CW.

I don't watch Fringe...but i totally get what you're saying. Even in the promos, SMG's pretty impressive...so definitely looking forward to her taking on the full fledged roles for 1 hour each week.

yeah they are also promoting Nikita quite a lot. That seems to be one surprise hit for them from last year. I always want to watch that show...but because of school, i couldn't give it time and then the CW played is totally crap so can't stand watching it online. i might just download it and watch it together.

by the way have you seen the trailer for "Alcatraz"? A new show by JJ Abrams coming midseason on Fox? it has Sam Neill, Parmindar Nagra, that big guy from Lost and others.
