Ahhh, I'm watching today's Mukti Bandhan, Pallo & Zainu! š I've missed the rest of this week's eps but so glad to be watching this one. I read that Charu found out yesterday that Devki and Vaibhav sleep in different beds? And that she warned him against becoming another IMV in that respect? Good, good - let's see if this has any assar on him.
IMV's voice turns so small when he tries to remind CP who he is š³ like a little kid desperate for his best friend to recognise him. This is not the IMV we've seen until now; the hard voice, the easy arrogance. This is a poet, a lover, a storyteller, a young boy lost forever in his dreams. And how excited does he get when he tells her the story of the rest of his life!! She's just standing there, trying to acclimatise to this new shock; pretending not to understand, not to remember.
I love the Ishwar-Chanda flashbacks...they are so sweet and original and unlike any other "love story" I've ever seen. Especially today's scene, which shows you just how much of IMV's success and drive was down to his love for his Chandraprabha. How he carries a packet of gulaal and other mementos of their lives in his briefcase. I loved the original version of BALH as it played over that scene too...this is generally such a melodious song that thankfully even EK hasn't managed to spoil.
And throughout this entire scene, Chandraprabha says not a word; her eyes say it all - surprise at the fact that he has kept so much of their history alive, anguish at the remembering of it, the awkward way in which she tries to not be affected by it.
The moment when she realises that Charu is his wife (and consequently that Devki is his daughter in law) is amazing - Deepti's eyes just light up as if she had exclaimed out aloud.
I wasn't sure whether IMV really meant it when he said that he would be happy in his life if he saw that she would be at peace in hers. Did he really mean to say that he would leave her be if she came back to the "world"? That's not the IMV we know - I am sure he would have wanted some claim on her...how could he go back to be with Charu?
Though some things never change - his assurance that he would take her back to her old life - without even letting her refusal faze him in the slightest is classic Ishwar. That stubbornness that we see now, that unbending way in which he tries to ride roughshod over everyone's lives, not least his own Chanda's...everything about him might have changed, but that has not. This man is incredibly selfish - and I don't necessarily mean that as a bad thing. Yes, he is self-serving and ruthless, but on a larger scale...he is driven by HIS love for other people. HIS love for CP, HIS love for his Ba. It doesn't matter to him that CP might not love him anymore. It's enough that he does. He still feels like he needs to "save" her, to protect her.
I find it fascinating how on this show, NONE of the love stories are successful. Aside from Ba-Babuji, of course. But all the others, they are unfulfilled, and unsuccessful. In a roundabout way, this is all down to IMV. His relationship with CP paved the way for all the other relationships; he married Charu but was never happy with her, he became so opposed to love that he made Sid marry a girl he didn't love, and the same with Vaibhav. He not only allowed history to repeat itself - he engineered it so. He became the very Bhawanji Bha who threw his love out without a second thought. He could have gone the other way - encouraged the love in others that he didn't get himself...but he was not strong enough for that. He became so bitter that in this bitterness he lost the one part of him that he should have kept.
The rest of today's episode was okay; not sure that Devki lying to Charu is the right thing. This issue will only just come back again soon enough - I would have liked for it to be out in the open now. What's the point of the subterfuge now?
I loved the IMV-CP scenes. There wasn't a shouting match or nervous breakdown, no recriminations being tossed this way and that. IMV didn't ask why she had never come in front of him until now, why she had stayed away; he didn't care that he thought she was dead all these years. All he cared about was that she was alive NOW. I also liked CP's wavering towards that way of life again, and interesting to note that this was because of Ishwar and NOT because of Devki. When Charu told her about Devki she very calmly said that she had left those relationships behind; but for some reason, seeing "Ishwar-ya" talk about Devki was too much for her resolve. So much that she had to force a maun vrat just to stop herself speaking to him...to stop herself from going to him.
Precap looked interesting too - I like how things don't drag too much on the show...looks like (hopefully) Charu will find out about Ishwar visiting CP soon. What will be interesting to see will be if Charu's reaction to Chandraprabha changes after she discovers that she is the reason that IMV does not love Charu.
