Oh and btw I agree about Kareena.....just saw a few glimpses of the KWK epi a day or two back and she was really acting sooooooooooo OTT and brainless and childishly coy.....I got a fake sort of vibe from her.

Bones-lite?? Hahaha...it's not really like Bones...only the initial concept, which, lets face it, is hardly original. X Files, Moonlighting, anyone? I find it quite hilarious....not like I watch it for the crime aspect...but I've always liked Nathan Fillion since Buffy days and I quite like his chem with his onscreen mum and daughter. It's a quirky, light, fluffy show that I hardly put in the same category as Bones, let alone compare😆...Plus, dunno about you but I think Bones has steadily declined over the seasons...it used to be a heartwarming show in season 1 and even 2, but since DB (how much do I love him😳) and ED (love her too!) became producers, the focus shifted to a lot more slapstick comedy. Which is fine...but sometimes it gets unbelievable. And this will they, won't they thing is SUPER annoying 6 seasons in...for Christ's sake, get a move on!😡😆 Ahh Vas *sigh*......LOL.....Hmmm I agree that Bones declined after season 3 and Zack fiasco....no doubt about that at all.....but seriously Castle is a joke to me right now only and it's just in season two.....and I'm not touting Bones as a supremely unique concept....I'm aware of the X-files etc. comparisons....but I honestly still feel that Bones is unique cuz it's female protagonist is unlike anything ever seen on TV and that provides for a very unique character and consequently unique character interactions and relationships. I don't watch this show just cuz I'm a DB fan or an ED fan.....I fell in love with the characters and the relationships b/w them and I honestly love how they've handled the BnB relationship....the 'will they won't they' doesn't tire me even six seasons in cuz I honestly am not one of those ppl watching it just waiting for the big "hook up".....I watch it for the interactions b/w these two in any form.....their relationship has transcended any basic labels in my opinion. .....Waise I find it interesting how you feel that DB and ED turning producers for the show is what led to its decline😆......I don't think that's the case.....I think its an overall call by HH and everyone else involved with the show.....yes they did end up making it more fluffier than the earlier seasons but overall they've kept the essence of BnB's relationship intact and that still makes it worthwhile to me.

Though quietly I must admit that I am starting to get a touch frustrated by the way things are going...I realise that the creatives want to speed the track up and get AP married so they can show the "real" track, which is the BOLD FAMILY DRAMA bit...but I'm not entirely certain this is the way to go about it. Yeah I kind of got frustrated with the show overall too and it didn't really feel like it's going anywhere with the dragginess of the Rishab-Uttara track and the usual Devyani weirdness....upar se I started to lose interest in Adi-Priya cuz of the insta-lowee (as Fatty calls it) development from Priya's side and Adi's despo obsession with getting married to her *shrugs*

Agreed, but as the seasons have progressed, to me, Brennan seems to have gotten worse rather than better. At the beginning of the show, she was this highly intelligent, kickass woman who had some streetsmarts...just watch the pilot ep to see what I mean. As the show has geared more towards the "Booth is a clown, Brennan is a complete sociopath" concept...it irks me that someone as intelligent as her could be so stupid, and not learn ANYTHING from her time with Booth. There have been times, esp. in seasons 4 & 5 when I've felt - is this woman for real?? I agree.....they sometimes go overboard in making Brennan seem TOO robotic and clueless about things....she was most definitely much better in season 1 and 2....no denying that.....but I can to a certain extent understand why she closes herself off more the more she starts to feel too.....

Oh, I don't watch it for those reasons either. Initially I started watching because I loved DB from Buffy/Angel. I didn't even know Emily then. But steadily I have grown to love her THROUGH the show...as I love Cam, Zack, Hodgins at all. And I'm not a fangirl either; which is why the concept of "will they won't they" does irk me....I want them to get it over with so that we can move past it. All this eyelocking (yes, its here too!😆) and girlfriends/boyfriends making the other jealous detracts in my opinion from the real show. I LOVE their friendship, though...and how Booth is the only person she trusts to teach her about human values. But I just wish that sometimes she would actually learn them!😆 There is no more "real show" to Bones anyways now, Vasu....the "real show" with a healthy mix of all the elements from the relationship to the cases is long gone since season 2/3.....to me personally, the main point of investment still left in the show are BnB....so I still watch it for them....the cases are laughable for the most part anyways and the rest of the characters aren't given as much scope as they once used to. Most shows I've seen.....I lose interest quite quickly after the lead pair "hooks up" per se....so to me, the interest remains alive in Bones and BnB for the very reason that there story has been given a very slow and gradual build up and the reasons that keep them apart....their very characterizations seem poignant and interesting to me.

Yeah. I have a similar feeling though not yet as strong as yours....meh. I'll give it some time, since I like Aditya's character in general (and the actor) (and I'll be honest, I do have a certain fangirl feel about AP's love story, rushed as it may be😆)...but hmmm😕

Very true, esp the bit in bold. That's also the only reason I watch the show as well. I mean, I had high hopes for the Gormogon story but they screwed that up..I also had high hopes for the Gravedigger but that came out slightly unbelievably as well. But still...I watch it because I do love Bones and Booth...and Hodgins, and Cam. There are good and bad parts I guess to all things...but it's still one of my must watch shows!

Also, found your ff!! Me going to read it when I get home😳 I still have a siggy request for you to come, missy, as part of your Gangster of the Week challenge!😎...what to do, what to do...should I really torture you and demand a shirtless HAAAAAAAAAAAWT MANEET sig?!😆 Even though I don't watch the show and couldn't care less about them?!🤣

Oh Vas, just saw your edited post about 30 Rock.....I know I've heard a lotttt about that show and it's won a lot of acclaim as well, haina? I've really liked Tina Fey since her SNL days only and she's been great in all her movies too.....also she was just EPIC with her Sarah Palin impersonations....haha....lovedddddddd those. Most of those ppl are from SNL only....even Tracy Morgan...he used to be on SNL too....hilarious.

I'm watching Outsourced these days....lol....it's surprisingly become a bit better than I expected....and if nothing else, I LOVE that I get to hear all this bollywood filmy music used as the bg score in that show....lol

Adi-Priya have chemistry and yes Rakesh is doing a good job as Adi no doubt....but I guess somewhere I'd thought that this story would develop differently.....there was so much potential in the whole possibility of how he GRADUALLY makes her start to believe in life and love again.....but here toh all he does is grab her every second chance he gets and maaro his cheesy "main JAAT hoon" dialogues and lo ho gayi love story.....and Priya is also all giddy in love since he's cornered her a few times....LOL.....anyways that's just me....I know a lot of ppl are enjoying the show otherwise.

Re: Bones....oh yeah they really screwed up the Gormogon storyline....ah well they had the writer strike issue going on back then too.....and yes the Gravedigger storyline didn't quite live up to what it had first started out as but I still loved the Gravedigger epi in season 5 earlier this year....well handled.....better than the season 4 one.....and now there's an interesting sniper storyline coming up in the Jan-Feb based on the spoilers...let's see how that pans out......but yeah, I think the excellent cast is also part of what keeps me hooked....DB-ED toh hain hi but Hodgins, Cam, Angie....they are all such a unit and so adorable together in their interactions (when written well) and I like some of the rotating interns like Wendell too.

Aww you found the FF? lol.....there wasn't much left to it after you left...I don't think I updated it very often and ultimately the show itself made me so disgusted that I gave up on the FF also.....now I feel silly about ever having written it.....lol

Arey you can request a siggy anytime you want....gangster challenge or not! LOL.....but oh god please no Mahiiiiiiiiii Mahiiiiiiiiii sig! Itna zulm mat karo Jai par, Mausiji :P LOL

Interesting discussion. I totally agree with Anu. Bones isn't the same now. Every show has its ups and downs. Bones has declined, but I find it all acceptable. I still think they are capable of coming up with better cases, but its just that they would rather invest their time and effort on something that audiences care about, rather than what is secondary for the audiences.

The crime aspect has never been the main thing about the show. It was always BnB. True, that the cases were better during season 1 and 2. But that's always the case. Its just a matter of garnering audiences. For my part, the crime thing has attracted me to the show. But after watching couple of episodes my focus shifted to the characters and the interactions between them. I regularly watched Bones to see their dynamics. And since it's about BnB, their profession is just the foundation for the interactions and the cases act as 'fillers' so that BnB story is not exhausted.

Plus, one of the most important factor is that the creators of this show has kept the BnB story's essence intact. Fans are already divided in two groups. Some people, like me, prefers the ongoing pace of BnB relationship, while most of the people wants the big 'hook up'. As soon as that happens, the show will be done. So to keep hold of the latter group, BnB has to be given priority. As audiences preferences have shifted, the creators are focusing on the stuff that is more important to us and that will keep their show alive on TV😆.

Audiences of shows like Criminal Minds will never expect to see romance between the agents, because that is not the show is about. It is a hardcore crime show, which has good character interactions, but the main thing being crime-solving. The least I can do is excuse (good) shows like these for going downhill in one aspect. As long as they keep their priorities straight and doesn't mess up with the central element of the show, I'm fine.

As for Castle, well, I tried watching it. I really did despite the fact that the lead guy has a child (older than Parker and off course not of the same gender as Parker's :P, but still), and the female leads story is so similar to that of Brennan's. But anyway, since the characterizations of the leads were different from that of Bones' characters, I did give it a chance. Although, the comedy is good, but the thing that really put me off is that in order to make Castle useful to the cases, they make the girl look like an idiot. Really, they do. She solved cases before Castle walked in, right? And yet, to solve these cases, she requires Castle to saw the points and then act all smart. Not that Castle always finds the criminal, Beckett does too, but well, a lot of time it is Castle who gets the case solved. I would still have been fine with all that, and watched it as time pass, if they hadn't copied Bones season 6 promotional pic as their promotional pic. Not even trying to be subtle about copying. So yeah....I am pretty much pissed at the Castle people. I don't have anything against the actors. I like Nathan otherwise.....but I don't like the show.

Oh....and hey guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs* How are you people doing?

Yeah, most of the actors are from SNL...which is why it is so great, their comic timing is fab!👏 seriously, check it out when you can...Tina Fey's Palin impersonations were AWESOME😆, and she wrote Mean Girls. Finally, a talented female writer/actor/comedienne who is not stereotypically fat or physically-challenged😕 a woman with talent, brains & beauty!😆

Its weird...intellectually, I agree with you completely. Hi Melissa! I'm Vasu 🤗love your analysis...I agree with much of it. Re: Bones....I too am a fan of the personal relationship between the characters...and yes, the crime is usually secondary, but in the past they were excellently able to juggle the two, which is why it sometimes disappoints me that they can't do it now. To clarify - in seasons 1 & 2, the cases mattered. At the end of the episode, I remembered what happened in the case and cared about the victim and rejoiced when the killer was caught. Like the New Orleans episode where Brennan has a case of short-term amnesia. I also LOVED that Howard Epps arc...fantastic creepo serial killer who actually had me feeling revolted every time he was on screen. Nowadays I can barely remember who the victim was let alone the killer, and what's more I can't be moved to care.

Plus, in the past it was not always so easy to figure out the killer. I mean, it wasn't rocket science...but it was not like now, when I could tell you the killer five minutes into the case, and it would be bland as hell. It's just that in the past Bones has achieved that balance, but now it seems to have lost it.

Re: Castle - I feel its much, MUCH more of a comedy/dramedy than it is a crime show. Here the crime really is incidental. At least with Bones you've got a scientific background (don't know how accurate it is but it's there) along with the crime. But Castle is pure fluff, which is why I don't even class it in the same category. In fact, I would be inclined to say that Fringe is closer to Bones than Castle. Fringe is like a mix of Bones and Supernatural/X Files...

But I see what you mean about the "inspiration" from Bones...I don't know about the promo pics, but to me Castle is nowhere in the league of Bones so I don't even look at the two as competing.

edit: And when it comes to the point about Beckett solving cases before Castle, and him making her look stupid....not to add another "commonality" point between the two shows...but even Booth solved cases before Brennan. Granted, Brennan has an actual expertise and has made Booth's life a lot easier...but when the show began Booth had come to her for a specific case that he was having trouble with...and suddenly they're partners in every case, sometimes when there's more flesh than bones anyway? I mean, that's why Cam was brought in, right? So they could expand the horizons to cases where flesh was still intact. Yet before Cam, before Brennan and before the Squints, Booth was doing a not-terrible job on his own. I guess that's the conceit of both the shows that we have to sacrifice our doubts for...to get these very different people in the same room (FBI Agent/Forensic Anthro and Cop/Writer), we have to sometimes look past the obvious craziness...
