For my dearest Friend
NUPUR
I woke up this morning with a thought to write a poem for you. I walked on the beach to get inspiraton to write a few special verses for you. My note pad in hand, I sat on a clump of green weeds watching the serene ocean thrust its waves towards the shore. The wind was pleasantly cool and the palms were swaying gently. The sky was slowly turning golden as the sun was making its presence felt. A calmness descended. I looked around to see that the only beings around me were the sea gulls and a few terns. It seemed to be the beginning of a blessed day. And why not ? It was my Jewel's birthday. I looked into the horizon to see how far my gaze could go........ somewhere out there far across the waters lived a beautiful person whom everyone knows as Nupur. For me, you will always remain a jewel ............ a jewel in the crown.
So I prayed to the Divine Spirit to cast its indulgent glance on you with love and tenderness. Make sure I urged that all the rough corners are smoothened out so that my friend doesn't feel the pokes and nudges of life. The early morning mists swirled on the water before sweeping away into the air.
The wind blew my hair across my face as I lifted it towards the sky. The grey was changing to blue and the morning rays brushed across the expanse with strokes of orange.
Little wind, gently blow
Pray do as I say so
Softly like a butterfly's wing
With all the joy that you can bring
The waves rose and fell in obeisance to the rising sun. The mighty ball of fire rising above the water. How strange! Water and fire together on the same forum? Can fire ever break free undefeated by water? And can water ever pay homage to fire? Can water ever cause fire? The primeval elements which Man worshipped were forces within themselves and strangely were linked together. And the wonderful Earth playing out its role of the beautiful mother, green and ethereal.
Enfold my Jewel in your arms
Keep her safe and far from harm
Let the Sun not beat down on her
Nor the heat breathe fire on her
The water should always soothe her
And quietly touch her cheek and caress her
My Jewel ................. May the year roll into a lifetime of love joy peace fun excitement and hope!!!
