^^ I know a couple of people who are doing biopsych, but want to pursue medicine. I am not sure about what the other popular major is though. I would think it is Psych.

And also people who want to go to law school.. they have a similar thing, they can major in psych or political science (or anything really) to get into law school.

And i completely understand the desi mentality thing.. I think the reason I'm doing Psychology is the same.. and I'll hopefully end up getting a phd or psyd...

Your mom still wants you to do Bio? I can understand that; my dad wanted me to do that. Maybe you could take her to the meeting with your adviser?

My computer randomly decided to just go ahead installing 23 updates and then restarting. I was not a happy camper.:(

But I am back. Zainab, usually, bio is the most common major, but you can do chemistry or really anything as long as you do the med school requirements. One of my best friends is actually in the business school and doing med school requirements on the side. So either way, she has back-up, and it is honestly something I wish I had considered doing.

Let me go do some more researching (read asking friends) and come back tomorrow, I am an elder sibling too, and I completely understand your predicament.
